Seeing as TitleistProV1x hasn't started a new thread yet on the latest Ping irons , I wanted to share this Golf magazine article of the new Ping S56 irons.

This is what the clubs look like. I like'em better than the S57 in terms of looks. What do you guys think?

Not a fan, personally I think they are kinda ugly. But if they play well, I suppose it doesn't matter.

I prefer the old style utilitarian look from the "old days" - at least back then they were distinctive. Now they look like most any other companies' clubs.

Agreed-I like the look of the S59s. I'll reserve judgment on these until I hit them, but on looks alone=bleargh...

I'm waiting for the Anser forged irons. I've owned two sets of PING irons before, ZING, and EYE 2 BeCu, the latter of which I gave to my dad. I haven't really liked any of the newer PING offerings. Very busy and complicated looking.

The forged Ansers look awesome, although wayyy to expensive...

Looks hideous.
The only good looking PING irons are the new Anser forged.

I like them, I bet they will look better in person than that pic. I do agree that they do not look as good as the S57 or S59 but they are not that bad.

As for the Forged Anser if you like them then you should like the i15's

hmm the tour-s doesnt "look" better than the tour-w but if that is copper I might have to get one. I cant find any up to date copper wedges these days. copper is so soft so to me its really good at chip shots, Not sure about full range shots though

They look like a cross between S59s and the old Rac TP irons.

I like 'em, but I haven't hit many irons that I hit farther or better than my superintendents S59s. TTlites apparently are for cheating LOL, I hit those things way too far!

The Anser forged are a lot worse looking in person. Thick topline, very much i15 esque.

      It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…

      I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
