I recently had one of those, not in tournament play. Shot 76, my only round under 80 this year. The odds of having a round 8 under your handicap in a tournament with a legit handicap is astronaomical. That is why the frequent occurances of this in tournaments frustrates low handicap players. They know they have been had. My shooting 76 is equvalent to a pro shooting 60 or 61. How many rounds that low do you see?

Nobody will likely accuse me of sandbagging... I've had just one round under 80 this year too, a 79, but it came in a casual round (and was posted for handicap). My last 2 tournament scores were a shocking 95-94... if that's sandbagging, then I'm the stupidest sandbagger ever.

If you believe the

Pope of Slope and your handicap was a little higher than you are now, the equivalent scratch score for your -8 (1138:1) would be about -6 (790:1) or -7 (2349:1) which is not unheard of. Of course a pro is usually better than scratch so it might be closer to -9 or so. good shooting!

Technically pro don't have handicaps as they are all playing off scratch but I get your point.
