I don't play vokeys or max limit grooves, but I live with the expectation that any loft more than a 5 iron will shred a quarter sized scuff in my ball. You're bashing a little rubber ball with a metal stick. I don't think the ball should be expected to look the same.

Shreading issues is one of the reasons i prefer the 200 series of vokey. Too bad they are not being made anymore. The edges will dull but in the meantime the spin mills will take a bite out of your balls... Im not sure how the CC vokeys do with that.
