Hello there everybody. I was wondering if I could please get your opinions on which ball I should play.

Pro V1 or Pro V1x.

I'm 15 years old and my swing speed is like 85-95 mph, my average drive is around 240-250, my handicap is about a 12, and I do like feel around the greens but also a far ball. Which would be better for me to play?

Thanks in advance for any input given! :)

i would try a nike juice, bridgestone e5, e6, or e7, titleist nxt or nxt tour, or nike one black.

i play on a long course with fast greens. i use nxt tours and they work just fine around the greens. unless you have players irons and you like to work the ball and you are very accurate then play a proV1 or prov1x

I would say a Titliest DT Carry because it has good feel and carries far creating longer distance and has green biting ability I'm 14 and my swingspeed is the same maybe a bit higher as yours but I'm not a 12 handicap.

If you're looking for feel around the greens I'd look to something other than the Pro V1 or Pro V1X. The NXT does much better in that department. I saw a few recommendations for Nike One Blacks but I tried a sleeve of them yesterday and they went off the face of my putter like bullets.
My Implements of Destruction (carried in a Hoofer Lite bag):

DRIVER: Big Bertha Diablo 10 degree draw, Aldila regular flex
FAIRWAY WOODS: G2 14 degree 3 wood & 17 degree 5 wood
IRONS: S59 3-PWWEDGES: M/B 54, 58, & 60 degree PUTTER: I Series Anser 4 (or G5i Anser, Anser 2F, or original...

Your swing speed is not yet optimized for either the Pro V1 or Pro V1x. If you want to play Titleist, play the NXT for now. When you get to around 105 mph with a driver, the Pro V1 would be recommended. However, only you know how high you hit your irons and how your spin is going to play out, so do what better players do... play your chips and pitches to see what ball works the best for your short game, and move back from there. Players should be fit for balls just as they are for shafts, but ultimately how any particular ball works best for you is the right one. Don't play a ball because some pro plays it.

I would shoot like E6s or e7s, since they're like 20 bucks a dozen and they're great balls

I appreciate all the options, however I dont really like the nxt balls and I was kind of looking to see whether I should purchase thepro v1s or pro v1xs.

Neither, your swing speed isnt optimized for those golf balls?
Its kind of like hitting a driver that's too stiff for you. (kind of)
V1 if you're relaly really really set on it, but you shouldnt be

Bridgestone does online ball fitting. It will take out a lot of guess work.

Since you asked ProV1 vs. ProV1x, I say the ProV1. More spin, and better for slowed swingers.

well, your ss isn't fast enough for it to make any difference, and they're identical around the green. so whichever you can find cheaper.

You shouldn't purchase either. You, like many amateurs will not benefit from a ProV1 as much as other balls.

As stated, neither ball is optimized for your slower swing speed. This is why Bridgestone created the B330-RX line. Look them up. The B330 is essentially ProV1 equivalent, and the RX line is developed for amateurs who don't generate tour-level swing speed. You will get the feel around the greens of the ProV1, with a core and mantle layer designed for your swing speed. Also, if you haven't tried the new NXT tour, don't write it off. It is very good.

I'll politely disagree with the "swing speed" theory. I've played everything from supersoft to firm balls and distance-wise I've found any difference to be negligible at best. If one goes "longer" it was because it was simply a better shot.

Based on your handicap, on average, I figure about 40% of your shots will be on or around the green. I'd select a ball that you like for that part of your game.

If you're dead set on Titleist, then I'd go with the ProV1.

Like others have said, your SS does not match that ball, but if you are hardcore on purchasing one or the other. IMO it really doesn't matter which one you purchase, you aren't going to see any difference between the two.

    • I have had the flu recently which gave me plenty of time to pore over Joseph Mayo’s instagram. I have hit a ton of shots each day on carpet and a little started how easy this shot is to make. Key thought for me is bring the club “no closer to the earth.” That really resonated with me. If I really steepen the attack angle I can hit my 58* lob wedge barely an inch or two off the ground and a repeatable distance. I don’t recommend this but tried it to what the end ranges are for angle of descent. I actually think a 62*-64* wedge might be even better for this shot.
