Thinking of moving my Hogan Hybrid to the closet. It doesn't perform as I would like out of the secondary (shorter) rough. It's good off the tee and fairway and first cut, but so is my driver. I want something i can get in the air that i can shape and land softly on the green. I have a fairly high trajectory with my long irons and fairway wood. Would like the same from my hybrid. Tried putting lead tape to raise the trajectory, still not satisfactory so I'm in the market. Any suggestions?

look at the hybrids from gigagolf, their pretty cheap, and they have a 30 day play gurantee, so if you dont like it you can send it back for a full refund as long as its had normal play and no abuse.. but trust me, you wont be disappointed.

I have tried most hybrids, and the one that stood out for me was the Cobra Baffler DWS. His is a 2- or 3-year old club, so you can get them fairly cheap from eBay. I had the new Cobra TWS for awhile, and fount it was no better than the DWS. So now I play with 2 Cobra DWS hybrids - a 4 (20-degrees) and a 3 (26-degrees). I love them both! They have a nice high ball flight, so that they sit down nicely on greens on longer approach shots. By the way, the 'DWS' refers to double weighting on eht back side, and the "TWS' is triple weighing.
Good luck.

Ping Rapture hybrid is a great club and you can pick them up pretty cheap.

I really like my Wilson Fybrids, which can be had for <$50 brand new from Rockbottom and other sites. Very neutral at setup so more workable; i hit a pretty low ball normally but the Fybrids have a higher trajectory for me. Quality components (stock shaft is UST V2, grip is Golf Pride) as well. At that price you almost can't lose even if you end up not liking it.

+1 for the cobra DWS. i have a 3h and love it. Great ball flight and easy to hit. I probably use it more than any club besides my putter and SW. (Because i use it off the tee so much...)

I love my Callaway X series 21* hybrid. Has a great feel and sounds like a fairway wood off the face. It can be found on the cheap too...

Test hit different varieties. If you tend to draw the ball, I would try a pro model with a square face. Other posters have complained about some hybrids being a hook machine , and I think face angle might be at play here.

Try hitting the Adams A7 hybrid. Of course you will need to decide on the 19* or 22*. I started with the 19* and just added the 22* in place of my 4 iron.

I have played the Hogan CFT Ti and the Callaway X series. I still like the old Heavenwood series better.

The ball seems to explode off the club for me compared to playing the other hybrids. Seeing how this model is from about 05-06 era, you could either try buying it from Callaway Preowned, or the new Diablo looks inviting. Comparing to the HW , it looks like it has a larger face. Some of the higher HCP players might like that. Thinking about trying one myself later this year.

I just went through this same dilemma. I have a Cobra DWS 4 Hybrid that I love. I went to the shop to try to find a TWS on sale and did. I hit it but felt like comparing it to something else. I hit the Adams A7 OS and a Ping Rapture. I absolutely LOVED the rapture. I went in set on buying the TWS as that was most similar to what I had but couldn't pass up the Rapture after hitting both. YMMV but i think you have to hit them to tell the difference.

I've been playing the Titleist 909H, 21 degree, Diamana shaft this year and absolutely love it. The ball gets up quickly and levels off, no balooning. It has a nice feel at impact and cuts through the rough pretty well.

My league partner has the TM Raylor which he loves. He hits it well from the rough and fairway. The only thing I noticed is that he has a draw to serious hook most of the time while he hits a slight fade with most of his other clubs.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
