I haven't been able to branch out from the Carolinas because of school, but I've played a few memorable rounds.

- Quail Hollow
- Harbour Town
- Pinehurst #2 & 4
- Pine Needles
- Rock Barn - Jones Course (Conover, NC)
- River's Edge (Shallotte, NC)
- Linville GC

In my bag:
905R 9.5
906F4 15.5
CLK Fli-Hi 20

MP-52 3-PW

Vokey SM 52.08, 58.08

Studio Stainless Newport 2 35"

Being from Wisconsin, I so want to play Milwaukee CC, but it's SUPER HARD to get on without knowing a member.
Just played Interlachen in Minneapolis last weekend and what an experience it was. Definitely in the same category as Riviera, Butler National, and Sherwood CC that I have played.

1. Augusta National
2. The Ocean Course
3. Baltusrol (lower)
4. Hazeltine
5. Eastlake
6. Sea Island
7. The Farm - Rocky face (The Hardest)
8. Champion Hills (Hendersonville, NC)
9. University of Georgia Golf Club

IMO, Pumpkin Ridge is good, but over rated. I think the Great Blue is tougher and just as good and usually better in the winter, (lol, but not by much). With that said, I guess it depends on what one thinks is BEST. For me, I don't care about the club house that much, (nice to have but not that important to me) or how green the couse is. I like courses that play tough, make you think and excute different types of shots, have roll out to the point that it can ruin a good drive, deep greenside bunkers, fairway bunkers is collectable positions on the fairways, in short ANYTHING but easy.

Of the private clubs I've played in the Portland/Vancouver area, Willamette Valley and Royal Oaks--I haven't played them all.

The best muni course I've played in the Portland/Vancouver area would be
Heron Lakes-tends to get soggy/muddy in the winter
Stone Creek-best winter course in the area
OGA
Camas Meadows-in Camas Wa and can be shabby in the winter and tends to be over priced in the summer.
Chehalam Glenn-little tricked up, but good.

Best muni courses I've played in Ore
Gearhart Links-Seaside
Ocean Dunes-Florence
Bandon Crossings-Bandon
Haven't played Bandon yet
Tetherow-Bend
Juniper-Bend
Indian Creek-Hood River
Skamania Lodge-Stevensen

I'm sure others could add more. The only place I've golfed other than Or/Wa is SLC Ut which reminds me much of Portland also with very good muni courses that are reasonablly priced.

Reading others posts, heck I'd just be giddy to drive in the parking lot of many of those mentioned.
