Having read several of the threads concerning used clubs and their value, I'm almost ready to commit. Being 5'7" tall, I need a club with a lie that is about 2 degrees flat. That being said, most of the used clubs that are reasonably good deals are standard lie. Is it a good idea to just buy the standard lie clubs and get them adjusted? Anything I need to consider (heard forged is better for this)? Is the benefit of buying new clubs to get them to the correct lie up front worth the cost?

Lastly, about how much will it cost to adjust the lie of used standard lie clubs?

I adjusted the lie of my 7 yr old clubs about three weeks ago at GolfSmith. The cost is $4.99 per club. They will have you hit a ball on a lie board and then determine how much adjustment is needed. I am also 5'7" and they adjusted 3* flat for PW-8 and 2* flat for 7-5 and no adjustment for 4-3.

My clubs are forged, they are easy to bend. Hope your clubs are forged to.

Lie adjusting is a couple dollars a club. Forged clubs are easier to bend, but a good clubs adjuster should be able to adjust just about any iron 2*. That said, you might want to find someone who could adjust the lie, and then ask them if they could adjust the specific clubs you are looking at.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
