6 weeks ago I could close my eyes and everything dropped into the hole. Now it's 3 put on every hole. Yesterday I was on every green in regulation and 2 or 3 putted evey one of the damned things. It's driving me crazy. Back to my PGA pro I recon.

Don't give up Duffy. What the golfing Gods taketh away on one day, the golfing Gods giveth back on another.

Putting woes are simple going back to basics.

1) watch some instructional putting videos
2) build your confidence by practicing short 1,2,3,4,5 foot short straight putts.
3) Putting two simple things, distance control and hitting a straight putt.
4) If you are 3 putting are you missing a easy tap in or is your distance control off.
5) What I have been doing lately is making sure that my putter face is square follow through to the target on my forward swing
6) I also have changed my distance control putting stroke by using this method: my follow through is exactly the same for all putts, the way I judge distance is how far I take my backswing. I also use the inside of my rear foot as one measurement guage.
7) no subsitute for practice, you should practice everyday so that putting becomes fun and you feel like you make every putt.

Thanks for the tips KS. I think it's just become a head thing. I'll take your advice.

Chas, Are you the golf god? CAN I HAVE MY STOKE BACK NOW?

the distance control works well, I had several double breakers and I was able to judge the distance well using the new distance control putting stroke. I believe it simplified the putting stroke and it helps you release the club exactly the same each putt. I also had a down hill putt that I was able to judge the distance without any problems. Try different putting methods and find what works for you.

If you have a hard time keeping the line, try keeping your putter low to the ground on the backstroke, I found that this method helps keep the line on the foward stroke, one way to ensure that you keep your putter low to the ground would be to lower your rear shoulder. I tend to pull the putter off line so I do two things before I putt, a slight forward press and make sure my hands are more out instead of in towards my body.

Pre-putt routine helps also. have fun practicing, and watch your putting stats drop to 30 or less putts per 18 holes.

Are you playing on the same course every time? If not, that could be an issue; potentially.

When I have this feeling, I try and remember not to peek. This then leads into a better stroke and a more may care attitude and more dropped putts. Back to the basics...

I feel for you, it's a pain.

I'm not good at putting anyways, but I can manage to two put sometimes.

I just had a lesson on putting & green reading today. I really enjoyed it. My teacher wants me to write everything down we went over and keep a copy in the bag to refer back to when your out there by yourself. The biggest thing I learned is the actual stroke itself. Just like a pendelum and every stroke is the same. The arms and hands don't have a chance to wander around on you. It is a great feeling hitting 5 in a row from 15 to 20 feet with a huge break.
