Dodge released an ad to promote their end-of-model-year sales event, seen below.

Those killjoys at PETA let it be known that they aren't cool with the company's use of show monkeys. The folks at Chrysler agree to modify the commercial. Here is the result.

As Paula Creamer would say, "Success!" (Oh, why the hell not?)

It's sad that PETA is so extreme as to be useless. Preventing senseless abuse of animals is worthwhile. Their approach is not.

That said, I've seen some pretty good arguments that trained monkeys and the like aren't such a good idea. It leads to the idea that these animals are tame and friendly, and then you get these mauling that you hear about ever few years (out here, at least) because people don't realize that they're still unpredictable.

I would have liked it better if Peta's headquarters had been on the other end of that detonator (unoccupied, of course). I support some of what they do to educate and inform about animal cruelty but very often they get carried away with their sense of self-importance and heavy handed with their approach. Getting their panties in a bunch over the use of a monkey in a Dodge commercial is a perfect example.

I grew up eating meat, and whenever I see "PETA" I can't help but think "People Eating Tasty Animals"

There's a guy at work who has a shirt with various animals picture on it. The caption reads, "There's plenty of room for all god's creatures . . . right next to the mashed potatoes".

Yes. And if God didn't want us to eat animals He would not have made them taste like meat

PETA is silly. i am completely against the mistreatment of animals and wish ill on anyone who unnecessarily harms any animal. but PETA takes it to the extreme. they want us all to be vegans, but the vegan diet is not a natural one. our brains grew because of protein and lipids our ancestors got millions of years ago from eating fish and insects. once we were smart enough to hunt, we became smarter by the whole act of planning a hunt and storing/prolonging foodstuffs. hunting and eating meat is a natural human phenomenon.

I saw a great bumper sticker once for those PETA friendly.

"I Love Cats...I just can't eat a whole one!"
