I love L.A.

Our Summer has been rather mild so far though. I think we only had one 100*+ in July. The last two days have been 100*+ with one more to go tomorrow.

It's funny how a month of below-average temps don't make it feel any more fair when it gets back to normal...

yea i am.

Cool! I know a few people that went through there recently. A few of them are working at courses after just graduating. You'll get to play some fun courses down that way. TCI is one of my favorites. The SCGA (Rancho California GC) is pretty fun too. I think that's your home practice course.

Hey zeg, I was just out your way today. Played at Brookside. It doesn't normally get that hot out there does it?

yea im stoked i cant wait. there are so many nice courses down there it seems. i played in state championships in high school at scga but thats the only course ive played down there. i actually already knew that TCI was one of your favorite courses because ive read through your thread that documents your tournament play and you stated somewhere in there how much you enjoy that course. I really would like to play in a lot more tournaments than i do now. Im hoping to break through down there into the + index since I get to play/practice a lot more than i do currently. Im hoping the school allows me to explore my own skills alongside learning the industry and the different aspects of it. Of the people you know that went there, did they get to play everyday? What do they do now? What i do know for sure is that golf is going to be my job in some form or another so this school seems to be where i should be.

^^ Two of the guys I know landed a job in a golf shop pretty easily. Another dude is trying his hand at playing pro. One guy just got his PGA Class A and works at a teaching facility. Definitely a great place to get your foot in the door. As for their play? I'm pretty sure they at least get to practice everyday.

You should start checking out the Golden State Tour yourself. I totally wish I lived down that way, as the majority of his tournaments are near Murrieta or North San Diego County. I'm kinda far living way up in The Valley. Actually GST is gonna by at TCi on 9/3 you should play? Or you can come watch/caddy for me?

Stay away from Pechanga!

Cool... I've never actually played Brookside since I rarely have time for more than 9 at a time, almost always Altadena or Eaton Canyon. Probably get there one of these days, I imagine.

It gets pretty hot in Pasadena, breaking 100 pretty regularly in the summers and often having warm/hot nights. It's rare for it to get quite as hot as it got today, though. Someone told me they saw 106 quoted... ouch.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
