It's not always quite that easy, but the air compressor method is definitely an easier way to regrip. Many times if they used double sided tape on the old grips, it's tough to get them off without bubbling them, but if you just cut them off it's not a big deal. Very easy to get new grips on, and I just use plain masking tape to build up...cheap and much quicker.

I know that this is the way that PURE grips work. Can this method be used with any grips?

Yes, I've done it on several different kinds.

Yes, but be VERY CAREFUL.

The grip can bubble up and explode very quickly and you could blind yourself in an instant.

Maybe it is wise to wear safety glasses !

Yes, but be VERY CAREFUL.

I've changed 20 grips and never had one I was putting on explode. A couple exploded while I removed them, but they were getting throw away anyways, I was just happy they exploded so I didn't have to cut them up. And "explode" is not a very fitting word. Either a weak part split and the air leaks out, or a bubble starts building and eventually the grip rips and the air is let out. I find the risk of getting something in the eye very slim. But of course, using safety glasses will make it safer.

The reason I used the word is because one of the the ones that I did exploded violently when I was taking it off. It left a massive bruise on my wrist.

Don't underestimate the power of compressed air when you are being careless, as I obviously was.

I have been regripping for years with a air compressor.

I use short bursts.

I've actually never regripped with solvent and grip tape. I started building some of my own clubs this year and I have probably installed 50 grips with air and never ONCE had a problem. It is slicker than ... yeah you get it.
