I have always done this...especially with my driver....and want to get a more fundamental, reliable swing.

I slide back because my right knee bends so much.

I must go back back about half a foot ( this includes my head ) on the backswing, then have to slide back on the downswing.

I understand a hip slide forward is good on the downswing, but my slide is too inconsistent seeing as I slide back so much.

I have tried keeping my right knee straight but find it difficult to do this without feeling to armsy.

Any tips to help my keep from sliding back?

The only video I have is DTL

Straighten the right knee, feeling like you're pushing into the ground more through your left knee. Stand up and side tilt more (really flat shoulder turn).

It's really close to being a pretty good move, honestly.

Narrowing your stance can help, at least for training purposes. A narrow stance doesn't allow you to slide all that much before you lose balance and fall over.

Also, instead of thinking about your swing moving back away from the ball, you could try thinking of your left shoulder moving toward your right knee in the backswing. Thinking of the shoulders turning with respect to the knees, rather than just thinking about the shoulders turning with respect to the ball, could help you stop the slide while still making a complete turn (i.e. without getting "armsy").

I'm sure iacas's advice is correct, but perhaps these things might help you implement it.

You could stand on a golf ball with the outside of your right foot and this will help promote hip turn more than a lateral slide
