Hey guys I wanted to get a high end putter. I currently have a karsten anser 2 putter, I was wondering do you think the Ping redwood anser is that much different that what Ive got now. If not, what putter would you recommend? No local golf shops have any redwood ansers for me to try

I've heard good reviews about the Redwood but personally I wouldn't splurge on a high end putter unless I can try it.

yea I just dont want to get one if its not that different than my karsten anser 2, you know. I like the karsten anser 2 but I want a high end putter for once. I really like the anser style and I like it to have really balanced feel on the stroke.

If you like the Anser and want to spend a good amount of cash you could always look at the Newports by Scotty Cameron.

yea Ive entertained the idea of camerons. I really want to like one but everytime I grab one at the golf store it doesnt feel that special to me, like I dont feel that balanced head when I take a swing. It feels more like metal bar on the end of the shaft that can twist easy causing pushes or pulls. I realize they are very popular and tons of people love them so I dont know, maybe I need to take practice with one or find the right one for me. I held the newport 2.5 and 2 today

I don't know if they are considered high end, but I really like the way the new Nike Method putters felt whn I was at GG the other day. $300 for a putter is a bit much for me at this time though.

im pretty sure thats considered high end, lol. yea Il have to try those out, anyone really like the method putters by nike??

I'm in no way judging anyone, but why spend an arm and a leg on a putter? I have been using my Bullseye putt putt golf style putter for 17 years. I hit some of the spaceship looking putters in the store the other day and I don't get it. Putting is the one stroke that is 99.999% player and .001% gear. Clue me in on what I am missing because I can't get my mind around dropping hundreds on a putter. Sorry if I went off topic.

I guess the same reason why people spend more than 10,000 on a car.

I'm biased but Tom Slighter putters are second to none. Told you I was biased ;) You can pick up a Tacoma Production model for $250.00. It might just be the last putter you buy. See, told you I was biased. Only 4 left!

i know what you mean, my dad has a bullseye style putter from like the 1960's. He had me change the grip on it a month ago and it was permantely bonded to the shaft, lol it was a pain. He putts very very well with it and thats why i changed the grip on it for him instead of him buying a new one.

Saying all this I do think changing putters can help too. I mean I like my ping anser 2 but I am in no means in love with it so being me a equipment junkie kinda guy, I want to try a new putter, high end one.

wow, those are quite rare. He only made 25 of them total and 4 are left. They look pretty nice though

Finally someone ...... I totally agree, allthough I can understand when people drop $400 for the most used club instead of buying the next longest $500 driver ..... but I am as happy now with my $150 Rife Abaco as I was 25 yrs with my $80 Ram Zebra Putter, which I still have.

What's wrong with the Karsten Ping? Didn't it just win the USPGA? Try the Rife putters, they do anser style models and are pretty affordable for a premium putter.

the redwood anser is the best putter ive ever used. the differences between the redwood, and the karsten is weight, and feel. the redwood is much heavier, and softer off the face.

i have both, and i love the karsten...but i REALLY love the redwood

PING  Tour -S (54*,60*)  TT DG Spinner ----- PING  Scottsdale Pickemup (33")

well I went to the golf shop and putted around with their putters and Ive come to the conclusion that I should keep using my karsten anser 2. The reviews are off the charts with it and I dont think I should change for a premium putter.
