I'm beginning to think my clubs don't have a sweet spot.

I flush it 2-3 times a round, but mostly..... my game is made up of calibrated misses. :)

I haven't had a pure iron shot in maybe over a month. I don't strike the ball particularly well. Most of my shots are slightly thin. You guys are lucky to have so many pured shots a rounds.

My definition of pure is hitting the sweet spot with the optimal shaft unloading at the time of impact. That ball will have a beautiful flight, go 10-15 yards more than a 'great shot', and will give very little feedback and almost a 'click' sound. I've probably hit < 5 of them.

The clicking sound is a good sign, but i feel, when i hit the ball, its more of a muffled sound - oftentimes taking the divot is perceived as a louder noise than the conact with the ball. But if you tape your swing it makes this destinctive clicking sound. I was watching a Tiger video of one of his warmup sessions from 2000, and it was all clicks, but i´m sure he would hear it differently.

I have hit previous good iron shots that felt pure, but when you hit a iron that shoot off the club face with an absolutely effortless feel, ball reaction and result with distance then you have not hit a pure iron shot.

Its not only hitting the ball square on the club face but its something extra, possibly club head speed at impact. I think what I focus on was my backswing position. I think this helped creates the perfect lag position that effortlessly gave me extra club head speed at impact.

I do want to say that I hit the ball like a pro, but do you wonder how pros hit irons so long. I think the pro hit this true pure type of shot so often that I have only experience this with the right conditions maybe 6 times over two rounds and my first time in 24 years of playing golf.

Reading that it would be easy for someone to doubt your index, but you have a really solid short game.

Consistency is the key to scoring low. Doesn't matter if you hit a 7 iron 180 or 150 as long as you can reach the green in 1, 2 and 3 shots. Puring shots will give you more distance, but you can hit it good without it too.
