If you had to best describe how you approach what goes on with your legs on the downswing...how would you explain it?

I often have a "stand up" approach as I approach impact which I feel is incorrect and I need to be more aggressive on "attacking" the ball on the downswing and one way I have been testing this out is as I start my downswing move, I give my knees a slight squat with most of my weight pushing on my left leg and my right knee leans toward my left leg with my right foot kind of "rolling" to the left (while trying to keep my right foot on the ground as much as possible).

So I don't try to make my legs (knees) go just at the target, but more closed to my foot line.

When I do this very slowly, I get what feels like quite a bit of tension/pressure surrounding the muscles of my left knee...a feeling as if I "don't" get in this position often in my downswing. Does this tension probably mean I am getting my lefts/knees in the right position on the downswing?

This is all part of my process of trying to attack the ball from above versus under (like I have done for so long)

Thanks

I have always felt my lower body action is weak in my downswing.

Thanks

I, too, have similar problem. Lifting right foot straight up in the downswing flares my shots to the right and it happens a lot, especially when I try to hit my shots extra hard. My hands can rarely catch up with my lower body movement.

Hey everyone. I write this from the 8th hole today. One of the pieces of advice Erik and others have given me is to get my arms across my body quicker on the downswings in order to reach the correct impact position. This has actually been a hard concept for me to materialize simply because of my ingrained swing habits over thyears.

A drill or thought that helps me is on the downswing to drive the butt of the club at the ball. Before I had the thought that to create lag I needed to drive the butt of the club straight down. I have realized this isn't very efficient and actually promotes losing the lag angle...hence my swing issue. For the last 5 holes I have been doing this swing thought and I can honestly say my impact position feels like I am doing it right.

Maybe this has been posted before or discussed. It is helpful for me so I wanted to pass it along.

It is one of the ways to work on not flipping, yeah. Get your camera up so we can see if there is a difference.
