New Pro V1 or....something?

I don't think all balls marked from Titleist are ProV1s. They use a variety of player profiles to test each level of balls. Perhaps your friend got a sleeve of "test" nxt, or similar.

I also received a sleeve from Titleist to evaluate. Here is what they look like:



From the feel and playability, I believe these to be the next-gen ProV1. I haven't had enough shots to really evaluate them, although they feel great around the green and seem to spin quite a bit on approach shots within 160 yards.

I tested mine out this past week...probably wasn't the best conditions to do so, but alas....

I didn't find much difference between the test ball and the Pro V1x. In fact, I couldn't have told you which ball I just hit if I didn't know beforehand. The covers felt the same, the flight seemed to be the same....the feel might have been a LITTLE different(harder test ball than Pro V1x) but I can't quantify that. All in all, I didn't see much difference between the two.

I ended up donating all the three to the course though, brutally windy day at a tough tough place to play.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."
