Haha... sorry. But it's really frustrating man, when you hit the ball well, put it where you want and then being on the green you throw away those good shots.

I wonder if that is as frustrating as finishing a round averaging 1.4 putts per hole, but posting a score of 108 on a 5,900 yard course!

I feel your pain...

I hate days when you hit it well and don't make a number that reflects that. It's usually a combo of the putter and lady luck.

I played Sunday and hit TONS of greens and wasn't getting birdies...after a while, I got in my own head and missed a few greens at the end of both sides because I pressed.

It's such a sucky game. All that fuss to get to the green and then what you do or don't do with the putter either saves, makes or spoils all your 'hard' work. Hehe. I need to work on my putting and my attitude about it.

Was this a new course for you? If not, were you playing a familiar course at a different time of the day so the greens speed was different? Were these misses based on distance (speed) versus break (read), or a combo of the two? In other words, is there either a rhyme or a reason for 38 putts for this round?

Nop to both questions, I think it was lack of confidence, but I think that led to doing something wrong with my technique.

to the OP

Those days suck. About the drill I will start with 30 in row hehe.

Hey guys, I'm quite dissapointed today cause my round today was horrible. And not horrible in the sense that I played horrible. I was hitting the ball awesome today, seriously I don't remember if I miss-hit a shot today, it was awesome from tee to green, but then... the green. Ouch...!

Guess what? Your gonna have hundreds more of them by looking at your age. You could be stuck in Afghanistan? Try looking at the bright of things.

Why would he be in Afganastan?

Dude is a 3 handicap and putts like I do - that's not a good thing.

AS someone already stated it all relative. Telling someone they could be in Afghanistan adds nothing to the topic.

With my high index I don't often have great ball striking days, but it irks me to no end when I 3 putt from 30 feet, or miss a 5-6 foot straight birdie putt, so I guess I can relate a bit. Thanks to Rebby for posting those drills...good stuff.

I have 10 or more golfer friends in Afghanistan and Iraq, on thier 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tours right now who would love to have the same problem as the OP. Not to mention another 25-30 golfer friends deployed on ships constantly supporting the troops. Nothing was meant towards slamming the OP. I only mentioned it to keep things light. A bad day golfing is still far better than a good day at work.

Gees.........gimme a fkn break. Enjoy the game...... you cant be a Tiger Woods everyday.

Still not sure what that has to do with a guy from Mexico City.

Of course golf isn't as important as other things in life. Nobody should ever worry about their wonky __insert nemesis club___ because at least they were born with arms and legs. You gotta draw the line between reality and the interweb.

I enjoy it and love it, but it's not fun watching your effort going to the trash.

With you being so close to a scratch golfer. I can understand your frustration. I am sort of lucky that I can usually find some humor when my games goes into the recycle bin. Even when I dont , I have 3 other buttwipes in my foursome who will needle me to

no end all day long. I guess we try to make things fun for each other when our games go south..

Yeap, I tend to make things fun when my game is going south, but the guys in this foursome they get mad because of everything and they caught me with their attitude. So now I'm using this thread to read how you get through a day like this, accept days like this and keep having fun playing the game!

Cheers!

I started the year at 25 then moved to 30, then to 50, etc, etc. It's all about getting a feel for your putter and developing confidence in your stroke. If you're having problems with 100, scale it back a bit and go for 50 or move the ball closer to the hole. By pushing for the full 100 right off the bat, unless you're successful, all you do is hurt your confidence. That's a bad thing.

I didn't miss a 3 footer but I did finally 3 putt (first time this year too). My first putt was a 70ft double breaker that was both uphill and downhill. I left it 7ft short. The second putt went in the right side of the hole, caught the lip and popped out. Doh!

I would be happy with the 15/18 gir, even a scratch golfer or pro has a hard time doing that. Anyone can have a bad day putting, sometimes its just hard to get speed right. Eliminate a couple of those 3 putts and the 4 putt and you're right at a 74-75, so you're really not that far off from having an average or even above average day for yourself.

Yeap, you get exactly the point is was trying to communicate.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
