I just hate the way S&T; is marketed, but the fundamentals and teaching method are great for the common hack.

The last commercial i saw for it was with the "creator" and it was marketed like you can be pro right away and its so different and innovative and what not.
It just seemed so gimmicky and unfitting that's all.
Its great for people who cant hit the ball because it gets you swinging right away but a 50 year old 30 cap isnt gonna be a 15 cap over night like its marketed.

I don't get that from the ads at all.

In fact, "the creator"? Are you even sure you're talking about the right commercial?

I've only seen a couple but that's what i got from it, it was awhile ago for sure.
I would love to see my parents go to stack and tilt or something cause they can barely hit the ball consistently right now and they've golfed for 10+ years atleast.
Its frustrating to watch but they wont take fundamental advice from me.

As a "common hack," I would say that the basic components of SnT have been very helpful to my iron play.

Well the best thing about it is the basics are taught to you all at once and you can begin working on them
where most standard teaching pros go "you need to work on this" when you have actually no idea what he meant
AKA the notorious advice, get weight forward, turn hips, rotate torso, hinge wrists. The list goes on with misapplied advice

The problem with those things is that they don't get people swinging and they don't get people hitting the ball in the air.

There's something there. I believe the most important thing to get people to like golf is to make them get the ball in the air right from the start. I know that was an eye opener for me during my first lesson. I thought "ok, _I_ can also make that thing fly!" (although not far, but at least not a worm burner). That got me motivated and when the student is motivated, it's easier to get them to try things even though they might miss a few times, because they know they can hit the ball.

Beyond a technique/method, getting beginners excited is the ticket to improvement. Thus back to my original question: if it means your student is able to make the ball fly (in the right direction), will you, as a teacher, bend the rules of your method until your student has gained enough confidence as to work on building good foundations?
