Drivers: Which would you go with?

Looking for a new driver, and I've currently narrowed it down to three options:

Titleist 909D2, Callaway FT Tour, Taylormade R9 460

Have tried out all three and bomb them all. Tried them on 3 separate occasions though, and am going to compare them side by side this week.

Any opinions on them / opinions of them compared to each other?

Side note to the R9: I don't really care about the adjustability of the club, I just hit it well. So that's not something I consider a plus or minus compared to the other two.

D2 would get my vote!
Ive also hit the callaway and did not really care for it.
Could not saying anything for the taylormade driver as I have not hit it, but I have not really herd any amazing reviews on it.

I recently switched from a 909D2 to a R9 Supertri. The only reason I switched was because I won the R9 in a tournament (actually won a Ping i15 but traded it for the R9).

At the end of the day, you can't go wrong with any of them as long as they are fitted to your swing and work how you want them. I can't comment on the FT Tour since I've never hit it, but the R9 and the 909D2 definitely have different feels. The 909D2 has more of a "classic" sound/feel to it whereas the R9 has more of a hollow 'ping' sound with a much more "hard" feel. Some people will prefer the 909D2; others will like the R9. It just depends on which on fits your taste.

If you can find the Taylormade R9 (430cc version) I'd go with those over those 3. Check Interbay...last time I saw one that was 10.5 with regular shaft but they said they'd trade out the shaft for anything else.

i ruled out the Callaway FT Tour. Ball flight wasn't as appealing to me, and had a tendency to fade (which is a characteristic of the club). although, i DID demo a Ping G15, and liked it a lot. Unfortunately they didn't have any 909's to test against them. They whittled away their inventory to make room for the 910 release next month (which makes the eventual price of a 909 pretty tempting). So as of now, i'm debating:

Titleist 909D2 vs. Ping G15

If I go with the Ping, I might have to find one with an upgraded stiffer shaft due to my swing speed (according to general discussion with dude in the store). On the fitting machine over the weekend, swing averaged around 106mph.
I know both drivers have pretty passionate fans, so I'm interested to see what people think.

The FT Tour is 2 degrees open as opposed to the 909D2 and G15 which are square, may be why you were seeing a slight fade. Tour driver vs standard driver has some diferences.

Personally? I'd go with the G15. Titleist's 909 series drivers weren't all that impressive imo...especially for the price. I may be biased because I used to the G10 for quite awhile...

GET THE D2. I bought one a few months ago and never looked back. The best driver i have ever hit. HUGE sweetspot, forgiving, and most of all it flies off the tee.

Many people who bought Ping G15 said it is the best driver they ever had. For my self, I pick Taylormade Burner Superfast. Many people have said it adds 20 yards to their tee shots. Including Jason Day, the PGA Tour player.

Simply switching drivers isn't going to add 20 yards to your tee shots. The only way that is possible is if you have a 5+ year old driver or your current driver's setup is the complete opposite of what you'd need for your swing. The differences between different manufacturer's drivers just simply isn't all that different nowadays, and the only way you'll get any gains in distance is with a proper fitting session.

The 909D2 is actually 0.5˚ open. It's nothing like being 2˚ open, but it definately doesn't setup square like other drivers do.

909D2 it bombs off the tee, and has great workability. I also have the FT Tour that I have side-lined because of the D2. Hit my brothers a while back, and immediately went to the store and picked mine up. Either way, let us know what you decide to go with.

Not to add to your decision, but the Callaway FT-9 price has been reduced at many stores. You might want to give that a try next time you're testing drivers.

I would go with the G15. I really liked it when i demo'd the club.
The G10 can be found new for cheap right now as well. I didn't notice much difference in hitting the g10 vs. the g15.

I wish they would have had a 909 to demo last night so I could hit them side by side. But i know of another store that does.

What are people's opinions of the forgiveness of the Ping vs Titleist? From discussions, it seems that the Ping has a more forgiving head?
Right now I'm playing the 909F2, which i love. But at the same time, I know that driver vs. 3-wood is a completely unfair comparison and they can differ within the same brand.

The G15 will be more forgiving than the 909D2, but the 909D2 is by no means an unforgiving driver.

As long as you are properly fit for the club, I doubt you'll notice much difference between the two drivers. With today's technology, conparable driver heads from different manufacturers are so similar in performance (if properly fit) that you'd have to hit a ton of balls back to back to notice any differences in playability. A trained club fitter would be the best person to discuss this with, not the people on this forum. All you are going to get on here is a bunch of people responding by saying whatever driver they use is the best one to get. That really doesn't help you out.

to the OP, I'd say put a little more focus on the shaft than the club head. Between the 909 and G15, performance wise, I won't say one is better than the other. You'll notice more significant difference when you start toying around with shafts. The only difference as someone mentioned, the 909D2 has a 0.5* open club face as opposed to square (G15) which can be a big factor for some people.
