When I started playing a month or so ago I was having a real problem with a wicked slice. Tweaking my grip (amongst other things) seems to have fixed this and a slice is a rare thing now. However, my general shot is now a fade with a good sprinkling of hooks (30 yards or so).

So I went to the range again yesterday and recorded my swing again. I appear to have a bit of a loop going on when I begin the downswing on the times I hook it badly. After reading up on this I think it is described as an over the top movement (club moves towards the ball before I begin the downswing).

Can anyone suggest some tips/drills for me to work on this?

Thanks

p.s. I can upload the video if that would help, though the quality leaves a lot to be desired.

It would help a lot. I can say as much though that you should not fix this by changing your grip and hitting fades and hooks instead of slices. Get that out-in swingpath going in-out instead. It will be easier to explain by seeing your swing on tape.

The camera quality is of course an issue as always, but you can go a long way with a good setup. Keep the camera stationary, don't let people hold it for you. Then use this guide on where to place it: http://thesandtrap.com/playing_tips/filming_your_swing

Hi Zeph,

Thanks for your help. Here is a bunch of swings from yesterday. Like I said, the quality is not good so you may not be able to help me much. I am amazed at how uncoordinated, stiff and inelegant I look! This golf game is so difficult... :D
