The brand or style of irons you play is probably not very important.

i said it more because someone said low handicappers wont be good with SGI and also Monty played with the bhig berthas when they first came out and i assume he was still good at that point

Ooooh . . . yeah, that may be true for some people, just like any other hard and fast equipment rule. A couple weeks ago my ball was right at 100 yards. My "cart buddy" was off somewhere flailing away in the trees. With my bag and clubs unavailable, I borrowed another guy's SGI wedge. After one 1/2 swing for practice I hit it stiff. It got my mind racing - should I switch? On the next hole, I hit my own SW "even stiffer!"

I did not fell like going out to the car to get my clubs. I broke out my old infinity clubs just to knock around while showing my son how to hit, gotta admit, they felt great. :)

Yeah... about that... I wasn't really trying to say that low hcp players wouldn't be good or shouldn't play with game improvement irons.... Those will work just fine for them, and if that is what they are comfortable playing then so be it. I was trying to make the point that while certain types/categories of irons match up to particular handicaps, the particular brand or specific model doesn't matter.

Put another way, a player going from one players club to a different players club or a gi club to a different gi club won't really notice any significant difference. Once again, I was by no means trying to say that a low hcp player couldn't or shouldn't play with gi clubs.

Did the same thing a few weeks ago, I was 130 yds out but my brother had the cart/clubs on the other side of the fairway looking for his ball, so I grabbed my Dad's G5 PW, hit it a few feet out.

Then again, I holed one on the previous hole from 115 with my MacGregor PW, so maybe I was just on that day.

High handicappers are high handicapper because they don't hit the ball very well. Heavy headed SGI irons don't cure a poor shoulder turn, swaying, scooping, and slashing across the ball.

You seem to agree.......

style does matter based on an individual's game. What doesn't matter, is what anyone else is playing. I certainly agree with that.

    • Day 8 (28 Jun 26) - Worked with face position at address and overall setup - open/neutral/closed - and setting up for resulting shot shapes - using 8i and hard foam balls.  It was abbreviated as the thunder began to rumble. Got in about 20 swings before calling it.
    • Tale of two swings.  Swing 1: Slightly outside takeaway (hands move outside of target line) only to allow trail elbow over collapsing at P4. Doesn't take much to overdo it for the trail elbow collapse to only further exaggerate. That's death. Swing 2: Hands stay slight in at takeaway for a much better trail elbow condition at P4. This is a hard sell from an instinct perspective. More focus on un-weighting and re-weighting of lead foot to unlock a bit more mobility of hips and torso. A major flaw that creeps up often is me swinging flat footed and becoming overly armsy-collapsy as a result. Got reminded of this the hard way during my 2nd round match for club net championship. Was cruising along 2up until I made the turn. Then lost the swing for next five holes. Andy was playing good enough to capitalize. By the time I regained my swing on 16th, it was too late. Even Andy was like "That was a gift". Obviously that stings because have played well enough lately. Should have closed him out of the game comfortably with a few holes to spare. Shoulda woulda coulda. Tough lesson. Damn. P.S. I know the swings look very similar but trust me there is a difference.
