Leaving on October 21 for Pinehurst. I am taking some clients on a little golf weekend. We have 3 nights there and 4 rounds. Golf at Mid Pines, Southern Hills another course I forget the name and #2. I am actually excited to be playing #2 even though this isn't a buddy trip.

Dinner recommendations? I don't need 5 stars but i am looking for good food. Steak Houses (not long horn or outback), Seafood whatever. I have to go on line and see if there is a Capital Crill in the area but if you have been there please let me know if there are any places that are must eat.

There's a bunch of restaurants in Southern Pines by a train station. I forget the name, there's a bar that makes great burgers. The Japanese restaurant in the little town by the Pinehurst resort is pretty good.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

There is a great place right next to the comfort Inn in Pinehurst. Great atmosphere too. Within the town of Pinehurst there are a couple of great places right next to the bank. When you get there anyone will be able to advise you. Super friendly people.

Just to warn you. I played #2 over fathers day weekend. Most of the rough is dug up because they are planting new vegetation for the U.S. Open in 2014. AND it's cart path only.. So I strongly recommend a fore caddy so you don't have to take half your golf bag to your ball. If you have a chance play #8.

I was there a month ago and, while they are still planting some wiregrass, the course is perfectly playable. My daughter and I had dinner at the Holly Inn on the property and it was excellent.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
