So I guess you could say that I'm technically playing my first round of competitive golf tomorrow, even though it's only a laid back college scramble. I guess I'm just nervous because because I've never had someone else relying on my shots but me, and also because the kid I'm paired up with is a senior I've never met before who apparently is like a single digit handicap. I just don't want to be the guy that he has to carry the whole time because of my crappy long game right now. I don't know, does anyone have any tips or anything for tomorrow that would help? I'm honestly just thinking of leaving my driver in my room so I'm not tempted to pull it out only to duck hook it into the woods.

You hit first and put a ball in play off the tee with your most accurate and longest club, then let him swing away. The key is to make sure yours is in play. Scrambles are easy if you work off each other well.

I say be up front right off the bat. Explain how you're playing, where you're strong and where you're weak, and then establish a plan from the get go. Whether that be putting first to allow stronger putters to get a read or only hitting the 3 wood for the sake of leaving the ball in the short stuff, figure out a plan and stick with it.

Most importantly, relax. As long as you don't go up there acting like a scratch player with $6,000 in JDM clubs in your bag, you'll be alright.

Scrambles are huge fun. Just have a good time and don't pressure yourself. Like the others said, tee off first and take conservative shots so he can be as aggressive as possible. When putting put a good roll on it so he can pick up the read.

Get something in the fairway, aim for the fat part of the green, make sure u at least two putt so he can go aggressively for the 1 putt. If you don't do what I said it's not a big deal since I'm sure he'll do what you couldn't.

Most importantly just relax and have a good time. Scrambles are fun because you can sometimes take that "chance" shot and not have fear.

Just hope your partner is cool and have a good time.
