Hey guys,

I am considering getting a new putting and one that I will use for years to come. The Karsten Anser is a good putter but I am wanting something a bit better since my putting has really improved with my scores. I am looking into the Nike Method 001 putter and I have hit it a few times along with the Scotty Newport 2. I am just curious on the weight and balance of it compared to the Newport. I think I remember them being pretty comparable to one another and the Nike felt good. I think I need to look at them side by side and then hit them both. Also, the Anser doesn't feel as heavy and I kinda like a putter to have a nice weight to it.

Any input is greatly appreciated.. Thanks!

I'm looking at getting a new putter too. I liked the method but it seemed to have a very small sweet spot which I wasn't hitting much, maybe due to the demo model being 35" and my preferred length being 33". I also prefer a sight line over the methods dot. Would it be possible to order it from nike with a sight line? I would like to try it in 33", other considerations for me are the Ping redwood anser, rife aussie or aruba or most likely a scotty studio select newport 2.
PS arsenal, how are you finding the vr 3 wood? I'm really tempted to get one now they have come down in price.

I had a Karsten Anser 2 and I too thought it was WAY too light.

I don't have that problem with my scotty though I may send it in for heavier weights just for the hell of it. Plus to get one of the new custom stamps on the weights would be pretty cool.

Thanks guys, I'll probably go to Golfsmith here in Austin tomorrow after work and try the Method, Redwood, and Newport against each other and try to use a Pro V1 or One Tour.

Walfice,
The VR 3 wood is pretty nice. I am hitting it very well because the shaft is working nicely with my swing. My 13* Cobra LD Speed Pro is still nice and I rotate them every other round. I think it has a very nice sound (VR) and I am really liking the ball flight. Go test it out!

Newport 2 has 4° of loft and Method has 2° of loft so the ball will come off the face differently. I play primarily on slow greens so I like my ball coming hotter and do quite well with the 2° of loft. I think the Newport 2 is slightly heavier than the Method.

Try the Slotline SSI Series.....they were listed at $179.95 but austad's has them for $59.95.

They have an aluminum insert and the putters weigh in at 360 gms. a little heavier than most, which provides for a really smooth stroke.

Here's the link: http://www.austads.com/Slotline-Mens...041657/product

I have the SSi-693, which is a mid-mallet. I like it much better than the SC Studio Style newport that I just traded for a new Cobra S2. The Slotline has a very clean look and has a bit more weight than the Nike Method or Odyssey #9.....and austad's price is amazing. (I got mine from Edwin Watts for a little more $$).

Does anybody game a method 1? I was hitting one at the local golf shop and really liked the feel... I'm a die-hard Scotty user but may have to try one of these out...

I game one. If I bought every putter I liked at the pro shop, I'd own quite a big putter collection.
