I like it - no idea about Price but Trevino, O´Grady and Miller were pretty good ball strikers from what i´ve read about them. Obv. you would have to add a couple more to the list, but i guess he wasnt around back then. And i think he forgot good ol´ Moe!

If you want to learn what good ball striking is, you are better off studying the past than the present.

Despite all of his issues this past year, Tiger Woods cannot be forgotten as one of the best ball strikers ever. Maybe he will never get there again but from the late 90s till a year ago, he worked the ball better than anyone on tour.

I guess my question is do we mark best ball striker based on consistency? or capability?

Capability. you go to the range at a tour event and find the guy who hits irons that fly and sound different from the other players - they are the great ball strikers.

I was at the range at the Australian Open a few years ago and watching Craig Parry hit shot after shot with a little fade, right at the flag. He was a guy who led the US Masters, won a WGCC event among others - so he could play. However he was not a good ball striker. Then I hear what sounded like rifle shots coming from further down the range. Peter Lonard (US tour winner and plenty of wins in Australia) was hitting lasers with long iron. The other players stopped to watch. That is a great ball striker. Pretty crappy putter, which held him back but his ball striking was at a different level and you can hear it as much as see it.
