This is basically just to vent a little:

For the past 2.5-3 months my wife and I have been working quite a bit. I have played golf 1 time in this time period. I went 2 weeks ago for the first time in those few months (and when I say first time, I mean I haven't even picked up a club at the house or anything).

Now usually when I take a week or two off, I come out playing pretty good and actually score well. So, I was expecting to go out and maybe make a few horrible swings that would lead to some not so common scores and I would shoot about 3-4 strokes worse than usual (in the past, on my very worst day I would shoot no higher than 85).

Boy was I surprised!!! And not in a good surprise either. I looked like I had never played before with my woods. I was topping my 3-wood. I was hitting my driver sky high...basically popping them straight up. I was hitting all my iron shots fat. I had lost my touch around the greens. And my putting stroke felt jerky. Needless to say....there were no scores written down because I just turned this into an all out practice session with my step-son....who was striping the ball!

All I could think was, "What have I done to my golf game?" I spent the past year making changes and correcting swing flaws and was actually getting on track to my goal. Now I feel like I will be starting all over.

Now, I am hoping this was just because it had been a while and I was tight and my timing was just incredibly off. I am sure that a few range sessions will get me back to where I was, but I am almost afraid to go back out there. And I was going to get ready to join the e-golf amateur tour next year. If things don't turn around quickly, I don't see that happening!

That's tough, I bet it's really frustrating. Grooving a new feel and then losing it due to lack of practice sucks.

Over the mid-summer this year I got myself down from a 100 shooter to a 93 shooter, with a good chance of falling below that. But work picked up strongly and I started working late, rather than having a couple evenings I could hit the range. I've played once since August, although I get to the range every other Saturday. But that's not enough practice for me, and I've lost a lot of that feel. :-S

You did it once, you will do it again. Just wait for the opportunity to practice to come back, and you'll re-groove what you lost.

Well, that is for sure worse than I have it!!! So, I will just end my whining now

. One of the biggest things that hurt me now is the time change. I am working a little more than usual and by the time I get home, it's dark. My wife is working a second job, so that leaves me with a ton of stuff to do around the house too. It's just bad timing. I will get it back!! And I WILL be stronger next year than I was this year. All that terrible round really did was fire me up to get back to what I love.
