Does anyone have experience with Tommy Armour 845 Evo irons? Are they worth checking out?

I have the evo v-31 cast model with the tri-gold by true temper shaft. I like them a lot when I hit them consitantly and I only paid 75.00 for them. But with your handiap I don't think you will have a problem gaming them. They have a thin topline and a progressive cavity in the back, so you get nice forgivness in the longer irons and control in the shorter irons. All in all I like them, but for me I would like a bigger face until I can make better contact.

I tried a used set of them once that I got at play it again sports, I think i only paid like $60 for 5-pw so I figured they were worth the gamble. I actually bought them, used them for about 2 weeks and returned them for store credit. Probably would be good irons for a low handicapper but i just couldnt make consistent solid contact, I need more forgiving irons and they just werent a good fit for me.

I can pick up a set for pretty cheap right now and I want a set of cast blade-like irons use at indoor golf. They look "interesting" to say the least. I like having irons that not everyone has (or wants lol).

Sean,

I had always liked the looks of the TA irons line, but had never played any. Last year, several ST posters shared their views with me on TA 845 family: http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...y+Armour+clubs

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Sean,

Thanks for the link, although the only even remotely negative comment in the thread is about he V-31s I'm thinking about picking up. They're so cheap now that it's totally worth the risk. I just thought it was ironic.

    • Day 9 (10 May 24) - Played 18 with a good friend and one of his coworkers.  Was not a solid scoring round, but lots of opportunites for course management. Had a blast as we truly "got our money's worth" as my friend jokingly said.  Had some solid shots and finished the round with a solid birdie on 17 (the only really good hole of the day).
    • I always wonder when people say they "tried" a golf swing out. I thought I had a topic on it, but when I searched DuckDuckGo for "trying" a golf swing or method limited to this site… "trying"+a+golf+swing+or+method+site:thesandtrap.com at DuckDuckGo DuckDuckGo. Privacy, Simplified. This very topic was the first search result. 🤣
    • I think you can get away with even a 5I or a hybrid or something. I don't think you need to hit 7I off the tee.
    • Yeah this is good to remember. Handicap is ranking where a high handicap player is most likely to shoot a worse score than a scratch golfer. Though you'd think a super narrow shorter hole would be relatively high handicap (as in close to #1 or #2 because a scratch golfer can hit 4i-SW and have a good look at birdie frequently whereas a high handicap is gonna be in jail or OB a ton? I guess it being short disqualifies it? I have long noticed that as a long hitting mid-handicapper I get an advantage playing in tournaments against players where I get 3-4 strokes because those are usually the par 5s that I can reach or nearly reach in 2.
