I have been doing the P90X workout for about 2 weeks now. It is pretty extreme. After the first few sessions I felt as though I could not wipe my own ass I was so sore but as time went on It has got to be fun and a challenge. I can not do the reps that Tony Horton does but I set my goals and try to improve on them each time. Being 42 years old and not a long hitter I thought it may help not to mention just staying in shape. I really like that the workouts are changed up from time to time and include yoga and streching. Anyone else tried this? So far so good for me.

Another month and my wife and I will have been doing p90x for three years. I am in 10x better shape at 48 than I was at 28. I have never been this fit and flexible in my life.

What if you live in an apartment and don't think the door frames can hold the pull up bar that you buy to use with p90x, is there any substitution options?

Yeah you use those resistance bands or something... just look it up on google.

Yeap I'm doing the P90X workout. The Yoga absolutely killed me. I've never sweated so much in my life. I love the Pylometrics workout, AB Ripper X is exactly like Horton said "You love it, but you hate it..:)"
Though my biggest challenge so far is the diet. I'm really trying to eat healthy for the rest of the 90 days. Once I get P90X done I really want to start Insanity, I want to get my cardio above par.

We have tried the Insanity workouts too. They are however, a little too high impact for me. They may not be for you but, I began to ache in my joints. My wife just recently purchased the "Turbo Fire" DVDs and they are high intensity, low impact.

Don't get me wrong, Insanity is great...just not for me.

I am really enjoying this workout. However I am not really sticking to the diet either. I still can tell a big difference in my stamina and over all fitness. As far as the door frame not supporting the chin up bar. I started with a pull up bar that rests just above the frame and uses your weight to hold it in place. That way not all of you weight is on the frame. You can pick these up at Wal-Mart for around $25.00. Then I moved on to the perfect pull up set because it allows me to do more than just pull ups. I hope to see a difference on the course when spring rolls around.

I gave up after one week. The first few days my whole body was so sore that I couldn't even move.
Plus once I get busy I just won't bother to spend an hour to torture myself...

But I am going to start again soon. Because I often blame myself for not being fit / flexible and thus affects my golf swing.

I have it and its pretty tough. I was sore most of last week with it. I haven't been doing 6 days of it though. to much overtime here lately but it should slow down after Christmas so I will get back to 5 plus days of it.

Try the "lean" program. More cardio, kempo and core and

NO plyometrics at all!

P90x will work best if you do stick with all of it. A few days here, a few days there won't give you the full benefit of how the program is designed. In fact, if you are skipping the Yoga day and the Stretch (Rest day), you may be missing what to me has ultimately been the most beneficial for getting really, really fit.

I've heard that quite a bit. I had a knee reconstruction when I was 16 so that's a bit of a worry. I'll give it go and see what happens.

Anyone think that guy Sean in the yoga and ab ripper vids is not human? The dude looks like some Super Sayan from Dragon Ball Z.

Totally disagree. Fitness isn't a "one size fits all" kind of thing. The truth is, the majority of the people out there would benefit from taking extra rest days with the program to prevent over-training injuries, which are common amongst out-of-shape people looking to make drastic fitness improvements around this time of year.

I'll go along with the one size fits all part of your statement but the literature and warnings/disclaimers that come with P90x beg and plead with "out of shape" people to do something else to get in a little better shape before starting it. It will get you in excellent shape but you are warned up front that it might not be the best starting point for someone just getting into or back into strenuous exercise. My thought would be that these people would benefit from less extreme workouts first before diving into this.
