Grip: Fingers or Palm?

Thanks for resurrecting this thread.  Very interesting.  The way he describes the pressure points in his right hand (between first finger and thumb) really resonated.

Fingers.  Gripping it with the palm will make it more difficult to control the club.

Bump this back cause i was trying to "grip" in my palm the other day  and I got pain back of my left hand.

i do much better with grip at the the base of my fingers

Works for Nicklaus, but doesnt work for me...maybe cause my fingers are long?

However for putting I like the palm grip in my left hand.

The shaft of the club lies right across where my fingers connect to my palm and it feels perfect like that.  I'm a bit surprised a palm grip can work, it seems like it would create a hump at the bottom of the swing where the club would hop over the ball as the hands turned over.  But hey if it works I guess roll with it.

After couple years, I feel like the shaft has moved more toward the palm....not the lifeline but slightly away from the mid knuckles and base of the fingers and toward the big knuckles  of my hand. I find that when I tee the ball up the back of my left hand faces the sky

I allow for a hump at the bottom of the swing so that the low point is before the ball and hit on the "up"

Bottom hand definitely more in fingers. Top hand I think there are advantages to both tendencies. For me, I've noticed that the top hand in the fingers makes it a bit easier to get club head speed, but club face control is a bit better when it's a little more in the palm. YMMV
