Played yesterday at Olde Scotland Links in Bridgewater. Haven't played there before but really liked the course. They started us on the back nine which I was told was a little tighter that the front. Hit my frist three fairways and parlaed that into a double, a triple, and then a par. Shot 49 on the first nine mostly due to a balky putter and some bad approach shots. Came back with a 44 on the second nine playing the last 5 holes in 1 under. Felt committed to the swing all day and drove the ball fairly well hitting 7 of 14 fairways (almost up to Tiger's standards ). I eneded up hitting 8 of 18 greens but that was bolstered by hitting the last five in a row. Love what S&T; has done for my game. Just wish Golf Evolution would open a Boston branch.

"Almost up to Tiger's standards?" Huh? You blew Tiger's doors off, especially if you used driver most of the time and not your 3W.

As for a Boston school, we'll try. For now, you can sign up for evolvr... Got a camera?

Hey Erik,

Any good inexpensive camera suggestions? It was mostly driver yesterday but a couple irons off the tee for position sake. Love this swing!

Or the pocket Casio - does 210 FPS and is smaller than the Kodaks AND takes still photos (if you're married that's a plus):

Casio FH-100 . You can find it from $200 to $250. Read this too: Filming Your Swing . Richard is an evolvr member and is improving quite nicely.

How is that course? Is is actually a real links style course (with mounds and thick fescue between the hole) or do they just not have many trees?

Thanks for the heads up Erik and Richard!

Hey Jamo-has a good links look and feel to it. At the end of my round I said to my buddy that ultimately it was mostly placement golf but some of the holes were links like and you could run up shots to some of the greens. Good use of fescue and mounds throughout the course to give you that feel. Greens fees were only $40 but I have been dealing with some knee issues lately so we rode which cost an extra $16 per person. I would recommend the course though-you'll enjoy it overall.

Cool, thanks! I'm thinking of playing there.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
