Been thinking about joining for the 2011 season.  The price is pretty steep though since each tourny here in cincy looks to be $100.  How much fun have you guys had playing in it?  What is the prize money like? Worth it?.  How many people are on the tour here in cincy

Not on the tour, but just North in Mason. What's included in with the $100 fee?

I've never played in them but played a little competitively around here.  I had my GHIN at the vineyard and played in the vineyard classic and a couple little ones.  If I had more money, I'd play in that one, Miami Whitewaters, northern KY amatuer, possibly the mid am which I wouldn't have a chance in, and maybe the met stroke play one.

The thing that I didn't like was the up front fee for the golf channel thing.  If you have your handicap at any club in Cincy, you can play in any NKGA or Cincy gof tourney.

Where do you play?  Me and my buddy play around and were looking for maybe a 3 and 4 on Sat mornings next year.  Just hamilton county courses that are walking friendly.

Yea I don't like the up front fee either on top of the $100 to enter each tourny.  I'm still in college and still have grad school to go through so money is pretty tight.  But if the prize money is good I may take a chance.

I play mostly at Beckett Ridge and have since 1993. Was an employee on the course from 1993-2005 and went back and worked a few hrs. a week this year, changed cups on Sunday mornings and cut some rough a night or 2 during the week. I work full time at The Cincinnati Golf Center by Kings Island. Friend of mine is the Asst. Super @ the Vineyard.

I've played very similar tours and $100 isn't bad, because it usually includes greens fees, prize money and live scoring. If you finish high you should at least make your money back, and there's nothing like tournament golf.

It's ok but at least in DC you didn't win cash just balls, gift cards etc. I'm not sure it's worth the money but they do play some really nice courses. Good luck

I play Beckett alot. I go after 2 too get the $29 rate. Like that course alot. Greens are really nice. Number 2 sucks bad. I can't hit a cut and my draw finds that hazard down the right almost everytime. Besides that hole, I like the course alot. What did they do to the Cincy golf center?? Man they really made that wierd selling off a few holes and making it a 23 hole facilty. I played in an outing this year out there and thought the layout was confusing. Another course I really like is Blue Ash. If you score well there, you played some good golf. Easy to make bogies on a bunch of holes.

I have no intention on playing this any time soon but just for fun I looked at the tournament at Doral in the summer of next year.  It's $295 which does not include the $100 one time fee.  Ouch!

Yeah but you're gonna pay $210 in the summer there anyway. So it's still an ouch without prize money.

I am a member out at Friendly Meadows.  Its a nice course for the price of the membership you cant beat it ($450 for two years).  I do play Royal Oaks, Legendary Run, California,  from time to time to give myself a little more of a challenge and change of course.

    • I have trouble with vertigo on occasion, but have gotten nutritional and biofeedback tips to keep it at bay. Dehydration can help trigger v-like symptoms so one recommendation, along with maintaining overall hydration, is to start with 8 oz. of water early in the morning. A meta-analysis on Golf As Physical Activity indicated that golf is rated as a moderately intensive physical activity. This scientific literature review came from the University of Edinburgh. The physical activity level ties into hydration. A former university colleague was a marathon runner who had published a couple of articles on endurance training. He likewise said that golf was a moderate physical activity especially when the round stretched past  the two-hour mark. For hydration he recommended switching from water to electrolyte drink on the back nine (past two hour point of exercise) to prevent cramping. At the two-hour point of moderate activity, water starts flushing electrolytes out of the body, which can lead to fatigue and cramping. (I have had trouble with leg cramps in the past during exertion.) During a round, I start out with water on the front nine and switch to sports drink on the back nine. If the day is unusually hot, I may drink 8 oz. of Pedialite concentrate before going to the course. Maintaining overall hydration plus on-course boosters keeps me going.
    • Personally I’d try booking direct first - either via the Vidanta golf reservations number/email or through the resort concierge - especially for Christmas/New Year. Vidanta’s main courses (Greg Norman and Nicklaus designs) are popular and can book out fast this time of year, so direct often gives you the best shot at your preferred tee times.
