There are legitimate reasons to argue for sticking with a piece of equipment for a reasonable amount of time other than the obvious financial impact.  This "who cares-it's not your money" argument is terribly weak.

Why does someone elses club buying habits have any effect on you? Of course its not smart for someones game to buy a new club every time a new one comes out but if its his choice then why do you care?

I'm with you. There's too much of that "it's the arrow not the indian" advice on these forums.

Keep in mind my frame of reference. I was an even lower handicap player 30 years ago when there wasn't all this latest and greatest equipment available, so I know it's not the arrow but the indian. But I remember all too clearly how we would have killed for more options. For instance, when my top of the line driver wore out after 3 years of play in 1983, my dad bought me the top of the line driver to replace it, which happened to be the exact same driver (Titliest)! There was one set of irons every good golfer aspired to get, Wilson Staff, and that was it.

What's great about golf these days is that there is a plethora of equipment available and part of the fun is trying and buying (if budget permits) different equipment.

My Tools of Ignorance:

Driver: Ping I20 9.5*
Woods/Hybrids: Cobra AMP 3W and 3 HY

Irons: Cobra AMP 4-GW

Wedges: Callaway Forged Copper 56* and 60*

Putters: Scotty Cameron  35" (Several of the flow neck blade variety)

Ball: Bridgestone B330-RX and Srixon Z-Star

Bag: Nike Performance Carry

There has to be a reason that so many pros are throwing the R11 in the bag. I have the R9 460 and it is awesome but I can't argue with what seems like the consensus of the pros.

Are you serious?  They're paid to.  As long as it's as good as whatever they were using there would be no reason not to switch.

yes they are paid to and get free clubs so why not upgrade. Im sure if the club sucked tho they wouldnt use it but I doubt its much better most of the time than what they used before. I think the pros like getting new equipment tho for the most part, I know I would. Look at mizuno as well, most of the guys sponsored by mizuno wont play their woods cause they dont care for them.

Yes I'm serious. Or was that a rhetorical question? Either way.. If you look hard enough (or at all) you'll see that its more than just Taylormade staffers that are using the R11's.

yea thats true. Couples uses the taylormade woods and is sponsored by bridgestone, to be honest I think bridgestone woods are hard to hit. Taylormades woods are far more forgiving and better overall which is why alot of people use them on tour who are sponsored by mizuno, bridgestone etc.

I don't dislike TaylorMade, have nothing against them selling a new white driver or anything else.  I quite like the R9 Superdeep.  Obviously some guys are gonna play a club just because they like it.  But TaylorMade also pays a lot of people to play only a driver or one other club, even if they're sponsored primarily by another company.
