On Monday or so we'll have reputation back, though in a slightly modified form (only positive reputation, tied into the "thumbs up" thing you see on posts).

We have the option to name our reputation points. The example given was if we were a baking site, we could name our reputation points "Brownie Points."

Here's a brainstorm of some ideas I've come up with. Add your own and comment on the ones beforehand, and ideally we'll reach a consensus on what we'd like ours to be called.

Ideas:

  • Skins
  • Birdies
  • Honors
  • Aces

Yeah, I kinda run out at the end, but really like "skins" as in "that person has 37 skins."

Your thoughts?

I only suggest that people jump directly from three skins to five skins.

Can the top level be, "total awesomeness"?

On the positive side: Pars, birdies, eagles, albatrosses, chip-ins, sand saves or sandies, long drives, maintaining the pace of play (that one just rolls off the tongue), the cart girl has a crush on you (not so good at your home course), honours, club champion, low gross, low net (is that a good thing?)

On the negative side: shanks, chilli dips, OB, 3 off the tee, double hits, 3-putts, topsies, fatsies, you're still away, DQ,

If you rescue a thread you could get an up and down!

I like skins...seems to be a good fit...will we be able to carry all the good karma with us from the old system or do we start a new round?  If you have a negative it should be a shank.  Instead of the penalty box, a poster could be OB.

No negatives. Just a point total.

And yeah, we'll have all of the old points values imported. Not the old comments, though.

Personally, I vote for "honors". It's a golf term and it's a highly descriptive word. That's my preference. For other suggestions, I'd through in: * Saves * Knock downs * Hole outs The last one ("hole outs") is kind of neat in that it conjures up the image of driving a point home, making a decisive finishing move, or something similarly significant and final, which is kind of how reputation is used here. That said, I wouldn't take any above "honors".
