Not a technical comment, but...

Why would you worry about the lenght of your backswing if you're getting the ball flight and contact you want?  Heck I'd use a putter off the tee if I could consistantly get the shot I want out of it.

Quick tempo isnt always bad but if it turns into hurkey jerky through the course of the round then i would work on it.

The only way i know to change my tempo in a way where i can keep it consistent throughout the course of a round is to count in my swing.

Such as:

OOONNEE-TWO-THREEEE

1 being my backswing, 2 being the transition and 3 being my downswing.

Thats the way i do it, im sure some people would go ONNEEE-TWOOOO

I do come back to this from time to time if i start to feel that i am getting too quick,
