So is a golf swing now considered a pattern by O'Grady?  Looking at the list, is there a "pattern" to hit a high high shot, or do you just move the ball a little forward in your stance and make a relatively normal swing?  Seems like Mac is making the game far more complicated than it needs to be.  It's funny that he developed his research based on Sam Snead's swing, who was as natural a golfer as there ever was.  I doubt the Slammer had to consider all those different patterns to hit it.  But I guess an eccentric guy like O'Grady needs an eccentric method.

You're missing the point a bit.

There's more to it than moving the ball position. Left arm alignments at P5 and P6, head and upper center movements, how you position your feet and knees at setup. Neck tilts. Jaw alignments. Eye alignments.

It's really good research, and it'd be really interesting to know it, but most of the world never will because he'll end up taking it to his grave. :-P

Mac has patterns to hit all of those different shots, just as TGM has patterns for every conceivable golf swing, Mac's are kind of a subset and thought of a little differently. You could almost think of Mac as TGM 2.0, except without the patterns (combinations of pieces) that don't work together.

Oh great. Now I'm going to be constantly wondering about my frickin' jaw alignment next time out on the course.

Thats the idea about it looking traditional.

Its simply swinging the club in a circle around a centered head.

And, yeh, when golfers try to hit punch shots or high, or draws / fades etc they make adjustments, just as Mac would too. He just has a clearer catalogue and definitive guide as to how to do it, with it all being measured.
