I have to assume by "big blows" you're exaggerating mightily. (Yes, okay, you are :D.)

Mike Weir lost his PGA Tour card yesterday. Baddeley missed the cut in Mexico the week after he won at Riviera. And people are realizing what Foley teaches, whether he gives credit or not (too much has been made of this dumb "credit" stuff. Should every instructor give a ten minute thank you speech every time they talk to anyone?).

Indeed.  So-called "good" marketing almost always involves bogus science, in my business (pharma) as in others.  That is why there is an FDA regulation that states that no-one in Sales or Marketing is allowed to have any role whatsoever in the design, implementation or interpretation of clinical trials (internal or external).

There is an excellent reason for this federal regulation, it is based on long-term corrupt practices in the industry perpetrated by Marketing departments.  It's as American as Applie Pie.

Charlie Wi missed the cut? That is a HUGE blow. Obviously we now have concrete evidence that this swing is crap. You're not supposed to EVER miss a cut with S&T.;

Plenty to support that he did. I don't like "ripped off" because nobody has come up with a completely new golf swing since... 1900 or so, or 1800... Everyone's learned things about the golf swing from someone else. Foley learned a fair amount (not 90%, 80%, 70%, etc. but more than 5%, and trying to put an actual number on it is pointless) from Andy and Mike. You're using the word "ripped off," and Steve K. used it, but I'm not and never would. This was a light-hearted thread, though, and you and Steve K. may have missed that.

His old Injury is probably still a part of it (whether it's healed or not, playing through it may have screwed some things up as well). I don't know what the rumors are but I like Mike and hope he can work through whatever's going on and come back to the Tour.

How do you know how well they treat their (two) former players? The charts are both factual and serve as marketing material. You can draw whatever conclusions from the charts that you want, but they're based in fact and a number that you can look up for yourself. They're not lying about the OWGR rankings shown (though, as a stat geek, is the "2010" the end of the year or the start of the year? I think it's the start, which means the charts are a year behind). They show Dean Wilson declining while in the "red" shaded areas. They seem fairly honest to me.

Mike and Andy can be somewhat confrontational, and during the really early years of S&T; being out there, were apparently more so. But what "the S&T; crew" did in 2005 or 2007 or 2008 is of little concern to me.

I've said it fifty times now - I hope Tiger does well, I hope Foley does well, and I support what he's teaching and don't care much at all how he learned what he learned. I'm happy he knows it now and believes in it. If he can teach it well enough, Tiger should get better. (So should his other students, but there's so much more than "making a good swing" to playing golf on the PGA Tour it's not even funny.)

Dammit! You've figured me out. But I'm not going to work with AJ. I'm going to take what AJ teaches (incredibly high rate of closure, never mind that the science says the face can only close about half a degree from impact to the point of maximum compression) and combine it with that long-hitting method Jimmy Ballard teaches Rocco Mediate.

It'll be a drawer's dream. Think about it! AJ Bonar + Jimmy Ballard?

Sure, everyone will need to add 30 degrees to EVERY club in the bag because the pull-draws they'll be hitting will come off as far off the ground as an ant's knees otherwise, but hey, we'll just aim right, never reach a par five (and some par fours) in two, and have a hoot!

Incidentally, and because the number of "S&T;" threads even annoy me , I'm closing this one down now.
