I'm finally going to get fitted for clubs.  I've been playing for about 12 years now and have been content with off-the-rack clubs until now.  I'm still playing some older Titleist 990s that I like, but am ready to jump to a new set (same with driver, but that's another story).  I was a 5.6 handicapper a few years (played 2-3 times a week) back and then due to economic situations I had to stop playing golf (stupid expensive hobby).  Things have improved now and I'm looking to get out and play more (about once a week is all I can manage).

I am getting fit by a Titleist rep with the whole launch monitor set up, but I have a few questions I'm hoping the masses here can answer.

- What should I expect at a dynamic fitting like this?

- My biggest concern is that my swing is not locked in rock solid (yet).  Will this affect my fitting?  I'd hate to get fitted (I'm guessing I need to be 1-2 degrees more upright) and then in 6 months or a year, have an evolved swing that requires different specs.  Is this a legit concern?

- He said the fitting would last about an hour.  Is this typical?  Should I check his recommendations with others?

Long time lurker, first time poster, looking for some pearls of wisdom here guys!

Personally i would wait till you get your swing to at least semi-repeatable shape before getting fitted so it can better lock in on your needs. I'm not a huge fan of going to a single-brand fitting because they'll just try to put you on the best fitting club for their brand, even if you could possibly hit a different brand better. i'd actually suggest going to a fitting with multiple vendors' clubs available to have a broader selection and ultimately larger fitting possibilities. just my .02. if you were a 5, you should be able to get a repeatable swing in no time, (even if bad habits are in it) and a fitting will do you well. best of luck and welcome back to this beautiful misery we call golf

Once your swing starts to stabilize, then a full fitting would do the most good.
