Well, it has been a while since I have frequented the board and A LOT has happened since the last time I was really active here.  I haven't swung a club since some time in October pretty much.  My wife and I started working 2nd jobs to get things paid off quicker and that took ALL of our spare time.  She was getting ready to get signed up for the new year of classes on her journey into Nursing School and then we were hit with a BIG surprise.....

I'm going to be a DADDY!!!

So, now we have that to look forward to.  Needless to say, I am VERY VERY excited.  This will be my first child.  I have a step-son, but this will be my first.  So now the 2nd jobs are over and our life is getting a little more back to normal.  Just in time for some golf too!  I HAVE to get back into the "swing" of things (pardon the pun) on the golf course.  I have really been missing it and I know I am going to be really rusty now. My step-son has been asking when the junior golf schools are starting back.  The tournaments are in full swing on tv.  And now I have time to actually get back to The Sand Trap....add all of those together and I'm hoping that gives me the motivation to get back to it!!  Anyway, just wanted to vent a little.....and announce my big surprise!!

Welcome back!  I remember how much I missed TST after my absence (I was writing a sizable portion of my dissertation recently).  But your news is much more exciting!  I'm glad you're returning to the site, though.

Something I'm curious about, if you don't mind my asking:  you have a step-child, and now have a biological-child on the way.  Is the step-child worried about being crowded out?  I've always wondered how this sort of dynamic plays out.  If it's too personal, feel free to ignore this or to tell me off for asking such a thing.

I have missed everything about Golf.  I haven't been playing or even swinging a club at home either!

So far he is VERY excited to be a big brother.  I think that is going to be what makes it easier.  He is 9 now and is maturing to a level where he will feel more like he is helping that being jealous of not being the attention getter.  Now with that being said,  he is currently jealous of my two boxers when they are getting momma's attention.  So, once the baby arrives...it may be a different story.   As of now, he is excited.

Thanks for the congrats!

The SandTrap will be a great place to visit to get your game back in shape and then to occupy your time when you have baby duty!

    • Day 316 - More swings, full backswing and full finish.
    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
