Well over a year ago, in some threads on traditional looking irons, best looking irons, etc. one or two of you posted pics of your Mizuno MX-200s without the blue decals/trim/badging, whatever you call it, along with how you removed them. If any of you read this, would you please repost how, along with the gorgeous pics.

Acetone will remove the paint easily. At some point, when I'm ambitious, I'm going to take the paint out of my irons and refill the back of them, but leave no paint in the numbers. I bought a set of Titleist 910 CB's, and the paint on the numbers started to chip out after like 2 rounds, I saw a pro at a tournament at work last summer who had no paint in the numbers and I too .

Indeed, very sexy!

I did that to mine.  Use a wood tee to pry up the decal and cleaned up the little glue residue with acetone.  Worked great.  Only pic I have is this before/after shot:

Sorry, it's a crappy pic, all I had was my iPhone.  Still, absolutely love these irons and how they look once they decals were removed.

They definetly look a lot better without the blue decal.  For a company that is known for making irons with such clean, classic lines I dont know what Mizuno was thinking on that one.  Youll notice though that they only did the deal for 1 year.

Thanks Slide. I am sure in real life your modified Mizzes are beautiful. Now I have a project for one of the next weekends. Although I've gotten used to the blue decal, it still doesn't seem right. Perhaps if it were black it might appear better. As Titileist states, what were they thinking. Maybe they wanted to match their gorgeous golf bags, which the new cart bag does look great in blue, and white. My next purchase.

yeah, I'm not sure what Miz was thinking with the MX-200 and MX-300.  I guess maybe trying to compete for people who were not the typical Mizuno customer and who were used to seeing the flashing looking clubs.  Instead I think a lot of people who bought them were people like me who like Mizuno clubs and the clean look of them but didn't quite have the swing for the MP series.  I bought mine knowing I would take the decals off...and did so within 10 minutes of getting them home.

In agreement 100%.  I love the traditional looks:  Miura(can not afford them), new forged Pings(DEFINATELY can not afford THEM), KZGs and the MPs.  When getting fitted for my 200s, I tried the 300s, and they weren't forgiving enough. So fuhgettabout me hitting MPs. The amazing thing about the 200s, is that I see ball marks closer to the toe, yet I still hit them long and straight. THIS is why people love Mizunos. And of course the "buttery" feeling when hitting dead on. But I WILL one day own MPs. Perhaps the 53s, although they do not compare in looks to the 57s.

@ slide13 thos mx-200 look sweet w/out the decals...those are the irons that I would like to have...If I ever get some I will be doing that.

Another question for ya Slide..  T o remove the glue residue, what type of acetone did you use, nail polish remover, pure acetone? Did you wet a rag with it then rubbed the residue?

Actually, the JPX 800s do have a bit of the MX-200 look in them.  IMO they do overall have a higher level of quality in looks, feel and performance than the MX-200s did though.  You never believe they are cast irons.

Nice clubs, but definitely felt cast as compared to the forged MX-200s.  MX-200 is the best feeling GI iron I've ever hit.  JPX 800 Pro felt better, and doesn't have the stupid 44* PW.  45* is strong as it is, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

I prefer the 800 Pros too, but the 800s are nice for cast irons.

Yeah, i just looked for acetone nail polish removed and used that on a small rag.  Worked great with a little effort.

Just removed the badging from my Mizzies. Wow. Pictures do not do justice to these. They are now sweeeet!!!  But since temps were in the upper 20s, here in NY, I did not want to freeze my butt of in my parent's garage fighting to remove the glue residue, and didn't want to get high breathing acetone indoors. So I will wait till the weather warms to do this. Can I soak the irons in the acetone, or will it ruin them? Anyway, here is my before and after. Now I do not need to buy any MP irons until I can play them.

I don't know about soaking them, might take off the paintfill.  I just use a little on a paper towel or a rag and rub away.  It's a little tenacious but it will come off eventually.  They sure are better looking once removed...I think those decals are hideous myself, but the irons themselves look great once naked.

It wouldnt damage the club itself if you soaked them would it? as long as the heel and shaft are not in the acetone?

The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson. "Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?" she asked the instructor. "P-u-t-t is correct," he replied. "Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."

I may be the only guy in the world (apparently) that actually likes the look of the blue stickers.

So I bought a used set of MX 200s yesterday and they are missing the stickers.  The previous owner removed them and also threw them away.  Does anyone by chance have a set I could get?  I googled my brains out and can't find any online...

Thanks...

-Adi

    • Depends on the lie, pin location, green.  I would say most of my pitches are with my 60-degree.  Its probably like 90% 60-degree, 10% 56 degree.
    • Depends on my lie and the green I am working with. If I want to fly and stop, my 58* If I am looking for it to run a bit, my 54* And on occasion if the lie and green call for it, punch and run with my 7i
    • I did the RTJ trail, we just did Grand National and Capitol Hill. We were trying to minimize travel time. It gave us 5 courses to play. You pare playing 3 of the 5 we played.  If I had to pick, I would play the Lakes over the Links at Grand National. Links felt too penal on approach shots. If you can't get height or spin, it felt like every ball that hit the center of the green ran off the back. A lot of the greens require force carry, no running it up. It just wasn't that fun to play.   Judge - Really good course, some really cool holes and terrain.   Senator - Really fun open course. They call it link style, I can't remember how much you can play the ball down, but it has the aesthetic appeal.
    • I do that at the range; I just have been going through a half-assed pre-shot routine. 😇 I just kind of waltz up to the ball and hit it. I catch myself just going through the motions of aiming. Once I started aligning my club to an intermediate target, I felt like I was aligned way open to the target but just trusted it. Like, if the club was aimed at the flag in the middle of the green, then my body was aligned left of the green or more (assuming something like a 100+ yard shot). I think I was more concerned with where my feet were lined up and not the clubface.  A question on alignment then.  So, the ball is like what, 3-FT away from the toe target line. So, does that mean if my toe line is aimed at the flag, the club is aimed 3-ft right? Does the perception of the green looking smaller in the distance impact that in terms of how we hit the shot? I feel like the geometry should work that the ball is actually aimed 3-FT right.
