As you'll see, we still have the option to offset negatively, and any mod or admin can still give out infractions (I see infractions as far more serious than a negative offset to the Skins total).

I think this thread is a good example of why negative rep should NOT be allowed.  Without taking sides in the "discussion," somebody getting a ton of negative rep points because of an "unpopular" post doesn't really serve its purpose.  If it's actual abuse, then the admins should be involved.

The last story posted, about smuggled beers, is cool.  Well handled by the marshall, and reasonably-responded to by the golfers.  No need to ruin someone's day or round over a little bending of the rules.

As to the threat about the sheriff, my guess is that's a bluff, since they probably could only ask you to leave and not come back.  However, at a municipal course, there might actually be laws in force if you're on city-owned land.  Either way, if you get caught breaking the rules, probably best not to get uppity.  :-)

Yes, but that's differently than "taking you to jail", no?

Oh are these skin things positive rep?? Haha I dissapeared for the winter and most of missed that, but I really enjoy the forum makeove nice job guys!

I like that story as well it's really cool of him to uphold the rules but offer to drive back and charge you for a case of their beer and hold your's till the round was over. Knowing me I wouldnt have dumped a beer I just opened though, probably chug it on the spot and that may have made the situation worse but theres people all over the world without beer, damned if im going to pour one out.

I dont really have any cool marshal stories myself as their really arent many at the courses around my area. If you do see one approaching you its usually for a bad reason AKA someone called in for slow play or reported you as being obnoxious (Both of which I was capable of when I first started playing). However one time I was teeing off to play 9 solo on a very large course. I hit my drive pretty well and began to walk off as a group of 4 guys pulled up in carts behind me. While I was walking to my ball 2 marshals pulled up in carts and offered me one for the roudn saying nobody else was walking that day and not to worry about it and that I could go ahead and play as many holes as I wanted to being a single. I obliged and got in a solid 21 holes played the first 3 again after I finished 18 for the heck of it. They were really nice to me on way out as I was the last person off the course that day.

Sometimes giving a freebee can get you a loyal customer because I play there as much as possible now.

Yeah, we didn't really think that he would actually take us to jail, but we just wanted to peacefully finish our round by any means necessary, especially since beer was easily made available (and I should add very reasonably priced, making our initial smuggling decision all the more moronic).  It was a shame that we had to pour out nearly full beers, but we're not much for confrontation on the golf course I guess.
