So last year my CHS was about 92mph and this year I am in the 101mph range, I don't know if it is because I have grown or what but over the winter I did take a weight lifting class where we do like bench press, hang clean, squats, dead lift etc. I am 5'4, 118 lbs, 14 years old. I hit the ball about 30 yards farther this year too(270 average). But I am just wondering the best workouts I can do to increase my CHS? I bench 75 lbs like 8 reps, squat 115 lbs 10 reps, hangclean 80 lbs 8 reps and so on. I would like to see my CHS to go to about 105-108 would be nice because this year I have to move back to the back tees so the more distance the better. I feel like I am swinging the club good also right now, I have my swing set for a tiny draw and I have been hitting the ball great just a little more distance would be great.

Thanks

I think the exercises you're doing will be fine, provided you don't lose flexibility.  I've recently started some serious strength training (bench press, squats, etc) and have seen mild improvements quickly.  I'm sure I'll be playing again before too long.  I'm going to be keeping track of my amounts in each of these areas (bench, squat, dead lift, etc) and my average distance to see if it's helping.

There's also the TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) website if you're interested.

One of the best reads i found, "New Rules for Lifting: Abs" great stuff on working the whole core. There routine for dynamic warm-ups is tough stuff, and strengthens alot of the stabilizers in the golf swing. Then they do alot of core workouts, and add in general strength for an overall body workout.

I personally like anything done with dumbbells, and forces you to balance, and activate your core. This increases the workout considerably.
