Don't really have a 'home' course since I am not a member anywhere, although I hope to change that this year some time. I play a handful of courses fairly regularly but play the one in the link above the most often as it is just a couple minutes from the house. Makes it easy to get out to walk 9 or hit some practice balls.

FINALLY, I get to make a post on this thread!! I noticed the thread months ago, but was not a member anywhere at that time. But I had begun to research several clubs in my area. It was a big decision for a golf addict, so I took it serious. I ended up touring and playing about eight different clubs, which was great (free golf, free food!). I knew a couple of the clubs from having played tournaments, etc. and it's funny how my preconceived notions of some of the clubs was so drastically different from my firm opinion once I had a chance to spend time there, talk to members, tour the facilities, experience a lunch or dinner and, of course, play the course.

The club that I never gave a second thought to prior to the beginning of my formal search ended up blowing me and my wife away when we took the tour. We were sold from very early on, but I wanted to do my due diligence. Once I had finished touring the other clubs, I tried to talk several friends into joining which took a few weeks to get them to tour the club and try out the course, but ultimately I was only able to talk one of them into joining.

So, after many months of wanting to be able to post here, I can finally do it! After a 30 day wait period, this week I officially became a member of Sunset Country Club in St. Louis. Founded by August A. Busch, Sr. (yep, THAT Busch) in 1916, it sits in a hilly area of town with great views of the Meramec Rivery Valley. Although it's probably only a 15 minute drive to downtown St. Louis, once you're in the club, you'd think you're in a faraway hillside community....just a very serene place. It's filled with great, laid back people as well and with temps in the 60s this weekend, I can't wait to start enjoying this course.....

    • Day 24: did a stack session. Worked a bit on downswing feels during breaks.
    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
