Canterwood Golf & Country Club, Gig Harbor, WA

Even though Canterwood is private how does it compare to some of the other courses on that side of the bridge; Gold Mountain, Trophy Lake, McCormick Woods?

I am a member at The Home Course in Dupont.

Haven't played Gold Mountain,McCormick or Trophy so I can't compare. Looking to play the Home Course this Spring. My son said it was very good.

Check my course out, I see most of you guys are in the US. My course has winter rules from mid November till mid March, which means preferred lies in the rough and small artificial mats to be used on the fairways.

Greens were sand banded in mid November to add drainage to green sub soil which was becoming stale (didnt drain in winter and rock hard in summer) but apart from frosty days we have been on them all other times. We are also on winter tees while most of the summer tees have been dug up levelled and relaid.

Roll on March/April.

A neighbor of mine moved down to Canterwood a year or so ago. He tells me it's a tough track compared to ours. I'm fairly new up here,so I haven't traveled to your side of the bridge yet. But, looking forward to the great deal the Home Course offers PNGA members.

I'm walker, how's the green to tee distances?

Baynative. Canterwood is a tough track, but enjoyable. Walking is not a problem. 9 & 18 both finish uphill. I have only lived arond here for about 2 years and haven't played too many of the other local courses. Here lots of folks talk about Port Ludlow.

There is no scorecard on your website, but my former neighbors who moed ther told me the slope is around 148 and PNGA refuses to have tournaments there because it plays so tough.

I play to an 11 up here which sounds like it would be 16 - 17 down there. Oddly though, on tough courses like that I tend to lay up a lot and sometimes score close to normal.

My home course is Muroc Lake Golf Course, a military golf course. No pics or views of it are on the website. http://www.edwardsservices.com/golf.html . It is a very well maintained desert course.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
