I'm currently on my third set of old school Nike Pro Combo's.  The make up of the set and the way the cavities work from full to mid to blade throughout the set is just fantastic. I still haven't been able to wrap my head around why other companies don't offer sets like this. After many years away from the set Nike has decided to bring them back.  They look great but I don't have any Nike hook up's and would be forced to pay the $1000 retail price...I hate retail.  Has anyone put these beuties in play yet?  My current set of grooves are showing some serious wear in the scoring clubs, obviously the 3 and 4 irons look pretty new still.  This will most likely be the last season they are in play and it is getting harder and harder to find brand new sets of clubs that haven't been made for five or six years now.

Thanks in advance

I had a set, nice clubs, bought in like new shape for something like $150, so incredible deal.  I scored pretty well with them, but the feel could never match my MacGregor MT Pro-CM irons.  I gave 'em to my Dad, and despite playing GI irons for the last 7 or 8 years he's been happy with them.  I did keep the 3 iron, one of the better combinations of size, looks, and forgiveness I've found in a 3 iron.

great review thanx a ton.  Sounds like everything i was hoping to hear.  They look AMAZING, Nike website only offers a few pics and none of the face, like you i was curious about all the extra grooves but they actually look good to me.  Now to find me a Nike hookup....do i ever hate retail prices...maybe I'll switch the shop over to Nike exclusive next year so I can get a deal...hehehehehehe

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
