They e-mailed me back saying that Chris did indeed work for them and that he was a customer service representive. It still seems kind of fishy to me so I will proly still send a club or 2 in to Callaway just I don't think about it. Seems like an awful strange way to do business and I would still like to know if GolfEtail in authorized retailor. I have tomorrow off so I am going to make some phone calls and find out. And this might be me being really paranoid but I am going to call Callaway and ask to speak to Chris himself and make sure he is the one actually e-mailing me. If GolfEtail knows there is a Chris W working for Callaway it would a way to for them to just say that and them take the chance of people not going any further and just believing them.....if that makes any sense.

Maybe send Chris W the email from GolfEtail and find out if it's actually from him?

No offense, but this thread is making me laugh.  I would be willing to bet that with a feedback rating of over 250K on eBay, that they are legit. You are going deeper and deeper into the conspiracy theory and almost trying to convince yourself they are fake.  Take them to golf galaxy, line them up next to a set and compare, I have yet to see a fake that I could not tell when compared with the real thing.  Good luck and I hope they are real for your sake.

Sincerely,

Chris W.  (or just someone who knows a Chris W. works at Callaway)

Yes, but I think he should still at least demand to see the long-form certificate of authenticity...

Fakes have infiltrated the genuine supply chain in a lot of industries, with the fakes usually originating from China. As a lot of genuine clubs (don't know about Callaway) are made in China too isn't it possible that your X24s got mixed up with some fakes.

I've seen several documentaries on fake goods and US retailers have been selling fakes of certain products as genuine without realising, even with pharmaceuticals and such!

Callaway places the serial number on the eight iron rather than the six iron from other mfg. I recently purchased a set of x24's from an eBay retailer and the serial number registered without a hitch. if you look closely at the serial number, there is also a tiny square with stuff in it that is an optical scan thingy.

As for golfetail, I have never had any issues with them......they are legit.....and when they sell used....it is as theybsay it is.

My FT5 that I got from them was Legit.  It cracked, I called Callaway and they could not find my serial number, so I sent it to them.  Fast forward 2 week.  A new Diablo showed up at my house.

Correction: I had to look back to figure out why I was thinking they were disreputable.  I did buy something from them through ebay and it was legit but they sold my email address and I started getting lots of spam from that.  Hence, my apprehension.  So with that, I would not necessarily recommend but the equipment may be OK.
