Its also going to depend on how you grip the club.  Gripped more in the fingers, you'll likely require a smaller grip than if you grip more in the palm.  Some people hold the club differently.  I play midsize grips and for me, I held a club with midsize grips and just knew it was more comfortable.  I haven't considered the distance between my fingers and palm but I play way better with midsize.

Judging by the intro to the vid and your photos you need to get the grip more into your fingers and not on the palm. This will give you much more control. If the end of the club ever falls into the palm aka no man's land you will find yourself spraying inaccurate shots. Grip the club down into your fingers and then check where the tips touch :)

I actually grip in my fingers, it just looks a bit weird. My calluses are alle in the fingers, right where they would be for anyone gripping it in the fingers. My conclusion from this is that what I do different is to lay the thumb pad over my fingers, instead of supporting it by pulling the thumb back.

I tried putting 4 wraps of tape on my 7i and playing some rounds with it. I don't really like how it feels and will remove the tape again, playing all my clubs without any tape.

A grip is not wrong as long as it works, and think my grip works. I may never be sure if it's a problem or not of course, but I don't think it's a big issue. I tried supporting the hand more by pulling the left thumb back but that just gave me less control of the club, it was like the club was gone on the backswing.

I was getting a bit puzzled about correct grip size until I stumbled across a Charles Lindup grip explanation, He talks about hooking the left index finger on first, applying upward pressure from there then placing the heel pad on top of the shaft and applying downward pressure from there. This seems to take out the other 3 fingers and grip size no longer seems an issue. Just wondered if anyone else has seen this and if so how much pressure should be applied by the left index finger?

Any truth to the idea that larger grips on wedges improves accuracy?

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
