I start with hitting like 10-15 balls with my left hand only with a PW and then hit 7 irons with both hands, then 5 iron, then 3 wood, then four drivers at the most. I don't like hitting 100 drivers at the range, it ruins your confidence if you hit em bad. I hit a few good ones and leave.

I think that getting mentally relaxed is the most important key to a good round. It takes time to forget about what has happened previous to arriving at the course.

With practice putts I agree that the short ones are the confidence builders that allow you to have a go at the one putt on the first hole, instead of being tentative. The first hole at my home course is a par 3 190 yards from an elevated tee. If I can walk up to the tee with positive thoughts about the hole, instead of remembering when I last blew out, then my round is ok.

I start out with my lowest wedege 60 degree and then work backwards till I get to my driver. I usually hit 5-7 balls with each club before I putt. I then will putt with 6 balls and start 2', 4', 8' 12', 16' and then back 12', 8', 4', 2'. Usually take 30-45 minutes to warm up.

I hardly ever get to the course in time to warm up, so for me its more a case of getting mentally ready on the way to the course. I make sure I'm not listening to anything to fast on the radio and just try to chill out. If I rush, listen to fast music ect. I will always be swinging fast on the first few holes.

I have a few songs on my ipod that I only listen too on my way to a round.

I hit the range if I can and depending on how much time I have I start with my lob wedge and work down going every club or every other club and hit each until I'm comfortable with it, maybe 5-10 times. Then I go to the first tee and forget everything I just did!

I usually start off with an 8 or 9, hit somewhere around 10-15 with those, to really get set with the feel of my swing and to know which of the two I'm more comfortable with hitting a 150yd shot. Then about 5 shots ea with a driver, 3 iron, 5 iron, then hyrbid or 3 wood...aiming at a different target with ea ball.

I'm very similiar in my approach.

I like to start with my 8 and 9 iron knowing this will show me my tempo. I will then hit my other clubs, and depending on the course I'll focus on one of the long irons more than the others depending on what club I think will be in more use that day. I like to hit my driver and woods towards the end and then save a few balls to use my 8 or 9 in the end again.

    • It feels like Rory blew his load on the 18th at Augusta. Maybe everyone is underestimating how much that took out of him. Watching McGinley whaling in 'Roaddie' for not stopping by to talk to the press was bit of drag. The dude has given so many interviews and so much of himself over the years, he outghta be able to play with house money sometimes. Jeez, leave him the fak alone.
    • Some positives playing in league tonight.  1st) Making the backswing a more lateral shift, and feeling the left leg and torso resist the turn at the top of the swing is helping out a lot. I got to feel an uncomfortable amount of pause in the backswing to set up the downswing.  2) I need to do a bit of more arm stuff better. Still too much draw or pull draws for my liking.  3) Short game is getting sharp. Many tap-ins tonight. I am trying to make the shortest backswing possible for the shot. It really forces me to stay aggressive with the pivot.
    • Day 43 (12 Jun 25) - Return of the net in the backyard as I set it back up in anticipation of some work with the R10 in coming days.  Used it to hit a few iron shots into the net with the 7i before wrapping up the session with the wedges.
    • Shame to see Rory crash on the back nine. Nice to Spieth play well. Looking forward to seeing Brooks collapse…😂
    • Day 255 - 2025-06-12 Played 18 holes. Started to over-do the crap out of my thing for holes 9-15 a bit, then refreshed it and finished out really well.
