Why do most people have so many different brands in their bags?

My story:

My ebay starter set from 2 years ago was Callaway, so I purchased Callaway wedges, 3wood and putter (odyssey) to go with it.  Then after playing for a year decided Mizuno was the brand I coveted the most because of their irons.  I swapped out the 3-PW and 2 of the wedges, but still have the odyssey putter (which I love) and Callaway 3wood.  I also have a $20 driver from golf galaxy.

If money were no object, I would replace my remaining wedge with a Mizuno and the 3wood with a JPX-800, but it's too much right now.  I don't like the Mizuno drivers so I will stick with the one I have.

I also never found any balls that outperform the Callaway tour balls, even though I haven't played with one in months (I am playing all of my randomly found balls until I run out of them).
