Bad Repaired Divot Lie

Played a round on Saturday and came to a shot where the ball was lying on a dead repaired divot.  The dead repair was lying flat in the divot hole and the ball was on top but still sitting a bit below the regular turf.  I've practiced out of divots at the range but not this and I am seeking advice on how to approach the shot.  I played it a little further back in my stance, but the shot pushed right and I felt the head of my 5 iron twist on impact.  My normal 5 iron flight is a baby fade but generally straight.

You uh step up to the ball and hit it?

Their are going to be weird shots in every round, you cant possibly practice for all the crazy shots you might take out off odd spots and weird lies.

In this situation you just gotta be like Nike...  Just Do It!
