A very new golfer. I have thus far played a grand total of 9 holes three times. And I'm hooked. I am self employed from a home office and take periodic breaks to do short game practice in my yard and field. Every day. Every hour or two. I mow my field so I have a 100 yd fairway and a "green" to hit at. I mow the "tee" on 3. Everything else is at 4 except the "rough" on the edges which is mowed at 4 to 5. I bought my wife lessons and clubs. I dream about hitting in the field. The high point of my entire year so far was a 150 yd iron that landed on the green this past Sunday! w00t!

I suspect I am ruined for life.... And I thought waterfowl hunting was addicting, costly and time consuming. At least my retriever likes fetching golf balls.

Wow, sounds like you're got a great setup right out your back door.  Wish I had that, even if I had to mow it myself.

You have something I want very, very badly.

Sounds like you have the space you should look into growing a real green that you can putt on. You should be able to find a pushreel green mower for around 100$ and its well worth it.

Welcome to the circle.  Golf is very addicitive. There was a satirical story in Golf Digest several years ago about golf addiction and a government agency with golf NARCs to catch people overly addicted.  I have been there.  Hopefully I am in a better place now, but I am always one sleeve of PROV1's  from falling back in!

The game is way to addictive, both my uncle and cousin have joined the golfing ranks the past few years. I have been hooked for over 15 years now..
